Captain Shittu delighted to finalise two-year Millwall deal

DANNY Shittu expressed his delight after signing a new two-year contract to keep him at Millwall until the summer of 2015.

NewsAtDen revealed on Thursday that the Nigerian centre-back was set to put pen-to-paper on fresh terms with the Lions, who have now confirmed that the deal has been completed.

Shittu told the club's official site: "There's been a couple months of talks and I'm delighted to have got it done. We have had a lot of ups and for me to be staying here shows that I believe in this club and I believe a lot can come from it."

The 32-year-old, who made 44 appearances last season, had initially been offered a 12-month extension, but Millwall agreed to his request for a longer contract.

Chief executive Andy Ambler said: "We're delighted that Danny has committed himself to the club for another two years.

"We were keen to ensure that the foundations Kenny Jackett has put in place would be available for the new manager to build on and Danny was a key element of that."

Mr Aldridge a couple days ago there was an article you posted which had a mini statement at the bottom of it from the fan on the board which read, the club will not be giving the job to mark bircham. Can you confirm this please as myself and I think nickola could not find that statement anywhere.
    Thanks

@lukesmithmfc: do you know what? I'm fcuked off with all on here. The last couple of weeks everyone has been giving their comments and getting all off with thereselves!! And now he has put pen to paper everyone is proper delighted with danny mate.

      The whole thing is b*****.

Now wait until AA lands us a decent manager and watch them all creep and agree just what a good man he is!

U know he is gonna make some mistakes, but sometimes he is just gonna get it right.

The sordell thing unthought he handled as well as could be expected.

The bottle gate incident I feel the same.

And god help me did he get the wembley ticket thing almost perfect.

And now I wait for every one else to jump on the happy wagon!

      Course, I have been drinking!

      Lol

I was beginning to doubt Shittu would sign but i was wrong an the has again shown significant loyalty. Could he be like Claridge and become a legend even though he is only with us a short time, i think maybe yes!

Can't imagine that Bircham is on his way just because Shittu will sign for 2 years. More likely that he's overjoyed as a 32yr old getting a contract for 2 years. Well deserved and he's earnt that.
I really can't believe either that Shittu knows, or has been told, who the manager is going to be as I'm absolutely positive that Ambler doesn't know that himself yet, especially as according to the statement from JB they haven't even started a shortlist yet.

Steve Lomas - current manager of St.Johnstone has, in the space of 12 hours today gone from 33/1 to 5/4 to be the new Millwall manager.
    Maybe someone knows something.

Nick but not sure if the timings right.
Another couple seasons down south with another club. No doubt he's doing a good job though

        I second that.
If its shittu then surely he would have done that a couple months ago. I doubted him before he signed yesterday, but I don't think I went to such lengths. Never mind.
So what forwards do you want to sign with his wages ?

Great news wasn't expecting this but that's just from 25 years experience of getting f***** as a Millwall fan. Hope he can stay fully fit and focused for the full 2years.

Well done Danny for finally signing and showing us some faith and loyalty. I've been a bit doubtful but you proved me wrong. Sorry I doubted you, I'm just your average, long suffering, pessimistic, lifelong, from a line of stitched up dockers, millwall fan that's all. No one likes us, that's what we do, COYL, blah blah. Just need a quality manager now (no secret. I think Owen Coyle would be great for us personally) and the future suddenly looks interesting !
