Robinson: Kitchener a massive icon in Millwall history

CAPTAIN Paul Robinson dedicated Millwall's battling draw at Cardiff to club legend Barry Kitchener.

Both teams wore black armbands in the Welsh capital after Kitchener passed away on Friday following a short battle with cancer.

And the Lions' dogged defensive performance against the play-off chasing Bluebirds was a fitting tribute to Millwall's all-time appearance record holder, according to Robinson.

“I hope to beat Barry’s record," he told reporters after the 0-0 draw.

"He was a massive icon for this club and a big part of our history.

“No one had a bad word to say about him which speaks volumes for the man. He’s a big role model for modern-day players and the clean sheet was a fitting tribute to him.”
