MILLWALL have underlined their determination to keep hold of captain Danny Shittu by offering him a two-year contract, NewsAtDen understands.
The Lions initially offered the 32-year-old a 12-month deal when discussions began last month, but in a show of good will they have agreed to Shittu's request for longer terms.
Many had speculated that the two parties were deadlocked over the length of the centre-back's new contract – but it is believed a two-year offer has been on the table for several weeks.
Shittu has been an immense figure for Millwall this term and, despite his advancing years, manager Kenny Jackett was quick to sanction a revision of the club's first proposal.
Popular winger Chris Taylor, meanwhile, is set to extend his spell at The Den by a further two years, although the deal is unlikely to be finalised until Millwall have secured their Championship status.
