Batt thrilled to score crucial goal in Millwall's survival fight

SHAUN Batt could not hide his delight after stepping off the bench to score a crucial late winner against Watford on Tuesday.

Batt, a 63rd-minute introduction, stabbed home the only goal of the evening in the dying stages to seal Millwall's first league victory at The Den since January 1.

He said: "I think you could tell by my celebration that I was quite excited! It's important for the team more than anything and it's a massive three points going into the last five games of the season.

"I didn't think we were great in the first-half. For spells after that we did well, looked like we could get a goal and luckily we were the team that did that and managed to hold on.

"For me, personally, it's a great feeling and a great achievement."

Assistant boss Joe Gallen believes one more win will be required to secure the Lions' Championship status and Batt is determined to achieve that against Huddersfield Town this weekend.

"The league has been tight from top to bottom and, looking at the table, we are still only four points above the relegation zone so it's a massive win and we have to back that up on Saturday," he said.

"The teams at the bottom all seem to be picking up points so we need as many wins as possible but I'm sure we'll pick up the amount of points we need to steer us to safety."

Batt is mindful that, with his contract due to expire in the summer, goals such as his winner against the Hornets could play a major part in determining his future.

He said: "Hopefully moments like this are helping in my favour. If I can score a few more before the end of the season, I'm sure it would be a big help to me."

Batt Man - The Dark Knight Rises.
Say what you like about him, he has shown Hulse where the goal is and gives 100% every time he's picked - top man!

In retrospect, looking at our home form this season we have dropped 30 points. If we had only managed to gain 10 points from those we would now be in the play-off area.
Our away form and points gained is as good as many that are up there.

Nick i don't mean to be rude mate but this post's for Sean batt and we should be giving him the credit he deserves, rather than worrying about the league table and home and away form.
Sorry pal, not mugging you off.

Batt man you've been superb son and credit to ya. Personally you deserve the start on Saturday cause you've earned it, some of the others need to take note, but and it's a big but
You need to come off the bench cause WE have NO ONE else to make an impact from the bench. I think with the way he plays it would be nieive of us to start him, he would burn out too quick IMO. No doubting his desire, hunger and fight for the cause.
    Top man Sean.

Well done, Shaun. I hope KJ takes note that loanee old men like Hulse, Tyson & Easter is not the way forward (pun not intended) and we need to give our players a good run in the side to show what they're capable of. Once again, well done, Shaun, and I hope you get further opportunities to show us what you can do.

If only jackett played him at wembley a lot earlier, maybe that tension in the crowd would have been put Into the pitch, chasing down and harassing? Top bloke been singing his praises for a while, 100% and nothing less.

Scored a great goal up at Leeds, and looks like another last night that keeps Millwall safe. I am glad he had a good run out at Orient and it looks like he's pace is back and to worry the oppo's defenders. Should get a full game at Huddersfield at least, and another three points.

No disrespect to the big fella but I don't think he's quite a regular championship stricker however he has always given 100% in a millwall shirt and for that he has my respect

The verminhater, although you are more then likely right, there still a hidden potential for him to get better, his still under the radar, and his got moments in him, his still not been tested at championship level and a crowd pleaser. ?

I'd sign him for another year and put him on loan at Orient. If he improves his fitness, confidence and understanding of the game, we might get a good price for him.

another roller coaster of a season. no nails left at all especially those last 8 minutes. Last season I thought Forde was useless. this season he been unbelievable most games. Back four look solid at last. Although I still believe Shittu will walk away if offered a better contract elsewhere. Midfield we need a new Hurlock a hungry no nonsense machine. Some one to give anyone a roasting when their game drops. Always believe a captain should be a strong midfielder. Upfront well, goodbye to this lot you had your chance bye bye. Batt deserves a chance in the remaining games but if no goals or assist from him, he can go too. Sorry but you cant get excited about going to a Game when you watching a Team who never look like scoring . Always say I not going again to watch that s*** until that magnet keeps drawing me back for the last 35 years. That what being Wall is all about, putting up with it, wondering why these so called players are earning so much and don't seem to care. That roaring lion on those shirts should mean everything to them, well it does to us standing on cold blow.

Benzo, You could at least quantify your comment and supplement that with some reason as to why you have such thoughts?

Could it be Benzo that you are one of them geezers that has a few light ales and a bit of nose bag and wants to tear it up with another geezer supporting the same team as he is?

Well done to Sean Batt, well taken goal that will give him a big confidence boost. We seemed to be playing a lot of long balls yesterday but with 2 vertically challenged strikers on the field they were never going to have much success until Batt came on.

Batt is the man to lead the line for the rest of the season. I think he has a point to prove which was noticeable last night. But he needs someone up top with him who is equally as mobile (definitely not hulse!!). Game on Saturday will be tuff as Huddersfield will be bang up for it, so there will be plenty of counter attack opportunities. Team for Saturday:
    Forde
    Smith, Shittu, Beavers, Lowry
Henry, Abdou, St Ledger(if not fit then J.Smith)
    Keogh, Batt, Easter

Sign him up KJ, he holds the ball up, has pace to get past defenders and always gives 100%.....no brainer for me.
