MILLWALL have announced they have been successful in applying for Category Two status for their academy under the new Elite Player Performance Programme (EPPP).

The Lions were assessed by an independent auditor at their new base at Eltham College and, after making further improvements, have now received the classification they were hoping for.

Academy boss Scott Fitzgerald told the club's official site: "The report came through six weeks after the audit and provided us with an action plan. Everything outlined within the report was achievable.

"I now feel we have the structure in place which will enhance the development of our young players and allow them the greatest possible chance of playing for the first team."

Manager Kenny Jackett said: "I would like to commend Scott and his staff on the tremendous work they have done in achieving Category Two status."

Meanwhile, Millwall have offered professional contracts to young quartet Charlie Penny, Will De Havilland, Niall McManus and Conor Wilkinson.

    Well done.
A lot of hard work went into that.
A professional approach with a motivated team will always bring results.
