MILLWALL have handed a one-year deal to defender Tom Bender after he impressed during a trial period with the club's development squad.
The 20-year-old, who can play at left-back or centre-back, became a free agent in January after his contract with former club Colchester United was cancelled by mutual consent.
He subsequently linked up with the Lions' U21s and has featured regularly for Scott Fitzgerald's side since then, impressing sufficiently to earn himself a permanent stay at The Den.
Bender was the subject of national press coverage in October 2011 when he suffered a nasty head injury playing for Accrington Stanley against Tranmere in a cup game that had to be postponed.
Bender has made four appearances for Wales U21s to date.
Pleased to finally sign for Millwall FC! Thanks for the support! It's appreciated!!— Tom Bender (@tombender01) March 27, 2013
