MILLWALL goalkeeper David Forde produced a man-of-the-match performance on his competitive debut for the Republic of Ireland against Sweden on Friday.

Forde made key saves from Tobias Hysen, Kim Kallstrom and Rasmus Elm as Giovanni Trapattoni's side claimed a valuable away point in their World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign.

Everton full-back Seamus Coleman said afterwards: "Forde was brilliant. I thought for corners and that he came and caught everything. It was a good night for him."

Manager Trapattoni added: "I am very confident with Forde. Congratulations to him for this."

Lions striker Andy Keogh came on as an 83rd-minute substitute in Stockholm. Elsewhere, loanee Jermaine Easter was an unused substitute for Wales during their 2-1 win over Scotland.

Fordey you have been great this season, one of our best performers, and shown commitment and passion. Keep it up, I'm sure that this will boost your confidence even further. Ireland and millwall number one!!

Nice one Fordey! Good things come to those who wait. Been really impressed with him this season. Not had the best historical form but he's really proved what his capable of this season and all these good reports will only breed his confidence even more. Trick is for him not to get too complacent and keep his head screwed on. Nice thought to have an international between the sticks for Millwall.

Its all the shots he's had to deal with over the last few weeks, its kept him sharp.
Here's hoping we can keep it up the other end a bit more for the rest of the season and give him a bit less to do!

Quality shines through in the end. Always liked him, even when dropped for Taylor he got on with it, worked really hard and now reaping the rewards. Good to see him prove the doubters wrong, and improving on those 25/30 yarders. Good work fordy

People forget the amount of clean sheets this man has kept, this isn't a fluke. He hasn't "suddenly" come good it's always been in the locker but like many keepers , confidence plays a massive part. Glad people are finally respecting forde again. The 2 seasons we got to the play off final forde kept the most clean sheets both seasons, then when we came up I think he was 1st or 2nd again. Like I say it's no fluke

Also last season when he was dropped for Taylor, at that point our defending was s***, too much for any keeper. Well done fordeeeeee

Blinder Fordey, the mans played well all season, it's worked bringing in Pressman as goal keeping coach Forde catches more than he punches now and is getting better and better, have a blinder at Wembley and we can win COYL

Don't know about you lot, but I hate it when there's no Millwall game.
Seems like something is missing. It's worse than the summer break.
