Gallen tells players to earn Wembley place against Charlton

ASSISTANT boss Joe Gallen has warned Millwall's players they must earn the right to play at Wembley with their performances in the league – starting against Charlton.

The Lions have five Championship fixtures to play before they take on Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Gallen insists next month's showpiece tie cannot become a distraction.

Millwall make the short trip to The Valley on Saturday for a local derby against Chris Powell's Addicks and Gallen says the Lions must focus solely on that game.

He said: "One of the biggest things about getting through to a Wembley semi-final is the motivation it gives the players to want to be in that healthcpc.virusinc.org/modafinil/ team against Wigan.

"They are going to have to perform in the league to be selected. Our league form recently has been pretty alarming, we're sliding down the table fast and the teams below us keep winning.

"We are going to need 53 or 54 points to stay up, which is an extremely high total. So we need three more wins, minimum, to secure out status in the Championship, which is our aim.

"Even though we're in the semi-final of the FA Cup, our focus is straight away on Charlton. This is a London derby and we have a good record under Kenny Jackett in those games."

Step up and get a grip stop feeling sorry for yourselves and earn your wages wembley will look after itself, and let 2004 be a huge lesson to you's, which I'm sure Robbo and dunney will let em know in no uncertain terms. Right that's the team talk done so now get out there and bring the 3 points home.

Thats exactly what we want to hear. The players have to earn their place for Wembley. Now there is quite a bit of competition for the places, they will all have to step up a gear. Hopefully we can secure our Championship status before Wembley, then we can really enjoy the day without having to worry about the relegation threat.
