The 40-year-old goalkeeper has joined the Lions on loan until the end of the season from Leeds United, where he has failed to even make the bench in recent weeks.
And while Taylor is aware he has been initially signed to provide cover, he insists he is ready to play a part if called upon.
"David Forde has been doing very well but if I can play any small part and be of any help, then fantastic," he told the club's official website.
"Steve Mildenhall's knock has given me an opportunity to come here and we'll see where it leads. It is difficult and frustrating at Leeds – Neil Warnock doesn't use a goalkeeper on the bench because he likes to keep his options open.
"It's a bit frustrating training everyday and not being involved with the team at all so there is an opportunity here and I am looking forward to it."
