MILLWALL midfielder Tamika Mkandawire is expected to begin training with Southend United this week ahead of a loan move back to Roots Hall, NewsAtDen understands.

Mkandawire was a big hit in Essex during a three-month spell earlier in the season and boss Kenny Jackett is happy to allow the 29-year-old to return.

The former Leyton Orient man, who suffered a serious knee injury last year, made 12 appearances for the Shrimpers http://www.flomaxbuyonline.com between November and January.

Should the deal go through, Mkandawire will be in contention to play for Southend at Wembley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Crewe on April 7.

Mkandawire, who is due to become a free agent in the summer, has been back at The Den since the turn of the year but has not featured in the first team since then – playing in U21 games instead.

    Good luck tam.
At least KJ is treating these players with respect by getting them loan deals, he obviously realises the standard of player we will need in this division and if we haven't got them its pointless keeping them here unhappy
That's 3 players who are at league one clubs whose contracts are up in the summer, the other two seem to be getting regular game time so lets hope they continue to impress their respected suitors so they get contracts offered in the summer. The last thing we need is those players coming back without a club interested in them, it free's up much needed wages. The loans we have ourselves will go back so the wage pot will increase further. Could be interesting pre season.

Yep need a massive clear out this summer offload all the fringe players and sign 3/4 first team players and then move the players that were starting to the bench making us stronger. We need a striker to get on the end of Henry's crosses nobody attacks them otherwise he'd have hell of a lot more assists.
