MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett says Barcelona star Lionel Messi is on his way to becoming the greatest footballer of all time.

Messi created Champions League history on Wednesday when he scored five goals in the Spanish giant's 7-1 hammering of Bayer Leverkusen at the Camp Nou.

The Argentinian star has now scored an astonishing 53 goals in 49 games this season.

"I caught a few clips of what he was doing and he's getting up there to being the best player ever," Jackett told the club's official website.

"I was fortunate enough to watch Maradona live and I thought he was fantastic, but Messi seems to be in a league of one at the moment."

So is Kenny ruling us out of a bid for him in the summer or are these comments intended to let Messi know he is on our radar to try an unsettle him ahead of an audacious £75,000 + Scott Barron summertime swoop?

If we signed him, Jackett would either play him at right back or leave him on the bench!!
