MILLWALL have signed young Chelsea midfielder George Saville on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has been a mainstay in the Blues' U21 team this season and captained the side to a 2-0 win over Barcelona in the NextGen Series this week.

Saville, who can also play left-back and centre-back, signed professional terms at Stamford Bridge in July 2010 having joined the club's academy from Reading as a 13-year-old.

He signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League club last year and travelled to Japan with the first-team for the Club World Cup in December.

Saville, who has been given permission to play in the FA Cup, scored twice in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace U21s at Selhurst Park, earlier this season:

George is a tough tackling central midfield player who can shoot from distance. He impressed for Chelsea by scoring a 25 yard goal against our under 21s a few weeks back. A good addition and it will be interesting to see where Kenny will fit him into the team. Maybe he wants to tighten up the midfield and play Goerge and Jimmy together.

Sounds like a good idea plus he can stand in for Lowry when he gets sent off every other game.

Sounds a good move especially if he can also play at LB, but maybe it should have been done a lot earlier so that there was more competition in centre midfield as KJ obviously didn't rate Racon?

I wonder if Lowry really can't play at left back. 10 yellows and a straight red is terrible, and we're only just past halfway through the season! I'd like to see if he could swap with Beevers. He plays football like it's Aussie Rules!

Sounds like a good move, looks like the end could be here for trotter starting, and yes could cover for lowry as he gets booked everygame or sent off, I don't see why we wasted a fair bit of cash on malone if he aint gna play, could of spent it on a decent forward

I doubt it'll be the end of trotter. S*** him off all you like everyone but these are the facts. On his day (I know it isn't often enough) he is quality in this league, Brighton away last season And Huddersfield at home this year he ran the show completely and showed what he can do when he applies himself. Last season he scored 7 goals from centre midfield and was linked with west ham and Southampton, Leicester, fulham after some brilliant performances. He is tart who needs to try harder but you can't take away from him that again , as poor as he has been the 2nd half of this season so far, apart from wood and Henderson who are no longer here he is our joint top scorer! And our top scorer in the league! Has anyone ever thought maybe if we had abit more quality up top then trotter would benefit too? I was one of the 1st ones to call for him to be dropped lately but there's too many people who just say "f*** him off" or "sell him soon as we get an offer" and to me that shows who really understands the tactics of the game and who don't. Anyway, good luck to the new lad, wish we signed him after Leeds though, You know what song we got coming our way!

I agree about Trotter. He's been at the club a substantial amount of time and definitely gets affected by players going. He hasn't been the same player since Morison left. It is however inexcusable for consistently sub standard performances, it is unfair on the rest of the team who haven't been tempted with a move away from the Den

Look, the post is in relation to us loaning a young lad from Chelsea, I'm pretty sure everyone knows what everyone thinks about trotts, it's all been said and its now boring.
Good luck to George I hope it goes well for him don't know where KJ plans on playing him he's pretty versatile can play left and center
So maybe he's cover for the shitt and Lowry at the back and jimmy, trotts, and Taylor if he has a set back with his injury across the middle, who knows. I hope he's got a massive pair of chuddies cause he's gonna get it every time he touches the ball lol. How unlucky is he. Poor bloke.

in answer to 82wall,if i come on here and say i don't rate a player,i'm not slagging him off i'm just giving my opinion which is what theese sites are designed for,i saw both the games refered to when trotter had good games and i aggree he played well and if your happy that he has a good game here and there, and you've got to go back to last season for one of em fine, but for me i want to see it more often.and on the subject of his goal tally some of those were penaltys

Never saw this coming, another KJ ambush! However, not sure a 19 year old can do a MF enforcer job, but maybe KJ has other plans in mind for him. If he is a ball winning tackler, Jimmy better watch out for his place.

Was not personally directed at you borders. Just in general there's a lot of talk about how s*** he is and how we'd be better off without him. I'm not happy he has a good game now and then that's why I said he should be dropped. But like I say if we get a decent striker scoring goals then I think he's confidence would be back and we would see more of him. That's not a defence for playing s*** though he should do more, but without his goals we would be worse off for attacking options because i cant see 6 goals between any of the other players that would replace him but maybe jackett noticed finally he needs a kick up the a*** that's why saville is here. Hopefully boro was a turning point and we can get over the safety line within the next few weeks .

Good luck to the kid. It sounds like he has outgrown the U21 level already and, if he's as good as his press cuttings and video clips suggest, he'll add a bit of class to our midfield. It's the one area of our team that hasn't changed since promotion, and I suspect that this signing could signal Jackett's intentions for the close season. Our defence has been over-exposed this year and the blame can't all be placed on Trotter, as it's not his primary job. As good as Abdou's workrate continues to be, we were a much a better team with Mkandawire in his place. If Mkandawire isn't going to get back to that level after injury (and Saville's signing perhaps tells us that this is the case), we should be looking for a replacement. And, anyway, we need greater flexibility there now that many other teams are starting to play with 3 central midfielders. Might we be heading in that direction ourselves?

yeah, i watched tam at southend a couple of times recently, looks a shadow of his former self, nothing like what made him player of the year with us,he's coming up for 30 years old in may so i don't think there is any future for him here,i think we have seen the best of him
