Mowbray tips Millwall to bounce back after Posh hammering

MIDDLESBROUGH manager Tony Mowbray believes Millwall's midweek hammering at the hands of Peterborough was a result that "went against the grain of their season."

As such, Mowbray has warned his players of a Lions backlash in Saturday's televised clash between two of the Championship's out-of-form sides at the Riverside Stadium.

Boro's play-off push has stuttered after six defeats in their last eight matches and they could drop out the top six if other results go against them prior to kick-off on Teeside at 5.20pm.

Mowbray, speaking at his pre-match press conference, said: "Tuesday was a night when everything went against Millwall and they will want to come here and be resilient and put things right.

"It was against the grain of their season so far. They're very physical, hardworking and they are still doing well in the cup and looking to get into the play-offs.

"We will have to be at our best to beat them. Every team can beat every team in this league and we have to turn the fine margins from defeats into victories."

However, Mowbray does not believe the late kick-off will affect his players psychologically. He said: "You can see the results come in but whether they go for us or against us doesn't really matter.

"We have to go out and win our football match and we will stay in the top six. Then we can remain positive and keep looking upwards rather than over our shoulders.

"We're fully aware that the chasing pack are right on our heels now and the only way to stay in front of them is to win football matches."

There's more chance of us signing a 20 goal a season striker than winning away at 'boro!!!!!!!

"looking to get into the play-offs" must be a joke - or a old press conference.
