Racon leaves Millwall on loan to join embattled Portsmouth

MILLWALL midfielder Therry Racon has joined crisis club Portsmouth on a one-month emergency loan deal.

The League One side were told on Thursday that they must exit administration before the end of the season otherwise their membership to the Football League will be withdrawn.

Racon has made just two appearances for the Lions since his free transfer from Charlton in the summer of 2011 and saw a deadline-day move to Fratton Park collapse last month.

Pompey boss Guy Whittingham told the Portsmouth News: "We tried to do Therry before deadline day but unfortunately it couldn't be done. So we had to look to the loan sign side of things.

"Therry can play in a number of positions and is decent on the ball, so you need to get him on it as often as you can."

About time! Hopefully he can do well and stay at Pompey for the remainder of the season and beyond - if the south coast club survives!

For the past couple of months we have all been pre-occupied with the striking force. Now that KJ appears to have dealt with that situation ( for better or for worse) the Racon move might provide an opportunity to deal with another issue that has been bugging a lot of Lions fans - central midfield.

Trotter and Abdou have both been in the comfort zone for most of the season. The only competition they have had is from Wright, who despite his undoubted passing skills is still a "show pony". He hasn't really imposed himself once when he has been given his chance.

Jimmy cannot be criticised because he will always give his all, but as we know he is a destructive midfielder with no flair going forward. Trotter has frustrated us all season. He has so much to offer, but has rarely come to the party this season.

In my opinion KJ needs to bring in an "up and down", passing, midfielder who can put his foot in when necessary This will put presssure on our current midfied trio, in particular, Trotter. If only we could find the new Alex Rae!

What a great player Alex Rae was!! Couldn't agree with you more on your other points!!

Nick Montgomery might be quite a good shout on loan, but it will need to be a loan as we have Mkandawire back soon hopefully

Couldn't agree more 'Wall. Definitely need more competition in centre midfield. I'm not a fan of Wright myself, fine if he's got time, like at palarse when they went down to 10 men and were backing off, but too lightweight, can't head and can't tackle. I rate Trotts but agree he's not imposed himself often enough this season, a bit of competition could make him the player we all know he can be!

Think the club should be ashamed where Racon is concerned! Either keep him and play him or let him go! He was great for Charlton yet never gets a chance for us and is forced to sit on the bench! Hope he does well for them and comes back because Del Boy is s**** right now!!

He was out with a pretty serious injury and hasn't really got going since and isn't match fit yet.

A very good player, like Josh Wright very good on the ball but is strong and can put in a decent tackle. I was excited when we signed him, if he does well and plays games at Pompey then no reason why we can have him back to play alongside Trotter or Mkandawire (when fit)

I know all about his injury sustained at Plymouth but he's been back for ages and KJ is only willing to put him on the bench week in week out when we have trotter out of form and wright whilst a good passer of the ball isn't all that! Puzzled why racon hasn't been given any playing time from the bench this season....

Absolutely, he has been back but not match fit. Definitely would have liked to see him more from the bench but he needs a loan to get going, he hasn't played in so long he is a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment but hopefully this loan will sort him out.

Trotter needs to be playing just behind the striker which is where he can be more creative as he is outstanding with the ballat his feet and is strong, could be the yaya toure of the Chamionship.... If he's playing in the hole behind the striker he doesn't need to do much running (not that he does much anyway).

Bit peed off about Racon, I agree need more competition in midfield just to push Trotter.
We have to get our season going again.

Hopefully, Tam will get a few games at Orient and come back to challenge Trotter and Abdou, who have both seemed a bit off the pace this season. Trotter, I can't understand at all. He seems to move his performances up a notch and then takes two steps back. I think KJ needs to have a good look at taking an offer on him and getting in someone with more grit.

Forget about tam, KJ has. Millwall have moved on to better things and tam will move on again in the summer when his contract expires. I think the 3 main centre mids we have all need to play in a 5 man midfield, wright will have time and options to pick his passes, abdou can put in all the donkey work and leaves trotter to do all his work in a more advanced role meaning he dont need to 'pretend' to defend. However if that's the case we desperately need more centre mids. Who have Bournemouth got playing there?

Big shame for therry he deserved better from us. as for match fitness leaving him on the bench week after week after week will not get him fit but even worse than leaving him on the bench we ship him off to Pompey, on trotter it's funny that his form has always dipped when there's talk that some prem club are gonna offer 2/3 mill for him,he'll join the long list of ex players who where valued at 2 mill and above and goes for much less I remember Everton offering 1m + Peter beagrie for jimmy carter, we said no and he goes to liverpool for 0.8 Blackburn offering 3m for thatcher who ends up at Wimbledon for 1.8, Cunningham was valued at 2.5m and ends up going to Wimbledon with Jon goodman for meesly combined fee of 1.3m they're just a few and they where better than trotter, I'm glad we have cover all over the pitch but I'm seriously worried about our midfield its more than just trotter needing to wake up and pull his weight, it's a tough one with him cause he is a good player and still got a lot to learn. I noticed Montgomery was mentioned we been down that road, not sure if its worth another pop, I'd like to see bailey from boro he ain't getting much game time up there and might be interested in return south.

People keep saying that racon didn't get a chance but he did; the chance to impress kj in training and push for a place in the team. Obviously he hasn't been good enough.
