Millwall boss expects Kane to stay at Tottenham after recall

MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett says it is unlikely that Harry Kane will return to the club in the near future despite being recalled to Tottenham from a loan spell at Norwich.

Kane's stint at Carrow Road was cut-short prematurely last week after the England U19 star made just six appearances for the Canaries in the first-half of the season.

But Jackett believes Spurs will keep Kane at White Hart Lane as cover for the likes of Jermaine Defoe, who is currently injured, and Emmanuel Adebayor, who is with Togo at the African Cup of Nations.

The 19-year-old was a huge hit at The Den last season, scoring nine goals in 24 appearances, and chief executive Andy Ambler has confirmed the Lions will attempt to re-sign him on loan.

But when asked whether he thought that would be a possibility, Jackett said: "Not that we've seen, no. Tottenham are short of strikers so his concentration is going to be on them, as far as I know.

"We would be interested, of course we would be, because he did very well for us. As I understand it,  the reason they've brought him back is to add competition and cover.

"Is he a player we like? Yes, that is an obvious one because he was such a success for us."

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas believes Kane's return from Norwich will be beneficial to all parties. He said: "It was in both teams' interests and the player's interests too, to be fair.

"Norwich have moved on and have found a striker so they did not have the necessity to hold on to Harry and for us it gives us another option that has come through our youth level."

Stop fannying about! If you like him put a poxy bid in for him. Stop window shopping and try their hand before somebody else puts their money where their mouth is and takes him. Spurs will let him go if the price is right.

I agree that we should give it a shot. And I'm pretty sure Kenny will be placing a bid, if he hasn't already. But in the end it's up to Spurs whether they'll let him go or not. Lets hope we get lucky this time around.

the biggest mistake we made was not selling lazy i mean liam trotter in january..we should have told clubs we were willing to sell and used that money to give chris wood and his agent a healthy signing on bonus. Come on Kenny sell Trotter in the summer and BUY a good striker and a centre mid who can be bothered then we might have a chance next season!!

I've been hoping we could get Mcdoldrick. He's been banging them in at Coventry and scored on his loan debut at Ipswitch yesterday. Scotland is good at this level too and is an excellent aquisition for Barnsley. The players are out there but we keep missing the boat for whatever reason.
Clearly Kenny feels Kane will stay at Spurs so needs to go again in search of a decent Striker.
Marquis, N'guessen and Batt are not Championship quality and need to move on so fresh faces can come in. Come on Kenny, the squad needs a bit more quality if we are to arrest this recent slump.
