Charlton made deadline-day approach for Millwall forward

CHARLTON boss Chris Powell made an approach for Millwall striker Dany N'Guessan just hours before the January transfer window closed on Thursday.

But the Lions did not want to leave themselves short of cover at the eleventh-hour and talks barely got off the ground. A swap deal involving Danny Haynes was briefly discussed but then dismissed.

The Addicks have been keen to sign N'Guessan ever since he impressed while on loan at The Valley last season and the 25-year-old had been expected to make the move permanent last August.

But the Frenchman has featured on a regular basis for Millwall in recent months after starting the campaign on the fringes of the squad and Jackett would be reluctant to lose him at this stage.

Dont think it'll happen mate - Spurs don't have any strikers at the moment! I think they've recalled him for cover their end.... shame!

You never know, they may well loan him to us but have a clause in to cancel the loan with 24-hour notice, works for both parties.... He gets 1st team football rather than sitting on the bench, then if a Spurs player gets injured they can recall him and he is match fit... Surely worth a shout.

Can't believe charlton would think we'd have Haynes after he blew us out then slagged us fans off. Why would we want a reject from a team below us? He was good for us under Donachie but how many clubs has he been to since. He's a wrong'un.
