Preview: Millwall vs. Aston Villa

WINGER Liam Feeney is set to go straight into Millwall's starting line-up for the visit of Aston Villa to The Den on Friday night after recovering from a hamstring injury.

But boss Kenny Jackett is facing a striker shortage after Darius Henderson joined Nottingham Forest and Nathan Tyson picked up an ankle injury against Burnley last weekend.

Loanee Tyson has been ruled out for a month with ligament damage while Henderson completed a permanent move to Forest on Thursday.

That leaves just Andy Keogh, John Marquis and Dany N'Guessan as the club's recognised forwards, although youngsters Aiden O'Brien and Conor Wilkinson could be included in the squad.

Feeney's return to fitness ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie is timely with Martyn Woolford (cup-tied), Chris Taylor (knee) and Scott Malone (back) all unavailable.

Defender Shane Lowry misses out against his former club with the full-back serving the second of his two-match suspension. Jack Smith should continue at left-back in Lowry’s absence.

Villa are boosted by the return of midfielder Ashley Westwood and forward Jordan Bowery ahead of their trip to South London.

Both Westwood and Bowery were cup-tied for Villa's Capital One Cup exit at the hands of League Two Bradford City in midweek but are set to be involved on Friday night.

Former Lion Nathan Baker is unavailable with a hamstring injury, while fellow centre-half Richard Dunne is ruled out with a groin problem.

Despite Villa being in crisis after Tuesday night they still have a few class players especially up front. Kenny is expecting for Beevers and Shittu to look after Benteke and company, a real tuff call. Despite Shittu having some good games in recent weeks, he just has not got the pace needed to keep up with the likes of Benteke. Up front NGuessan has had his chance to show what he can do and has failed miserably, Marquis has the skill but is knocked off the ball too easily, maybe Kenny will let Wilkinson show what he can do. Probably not.
What this game needs is 90 Minutes of 15000 Wall fans showing Villa what it is like to play at the den.

I would like to see Trotter pushed further forward with Wright sitting in front of the back 4 and Jimmy doing his normal thing. Hopefully Wright will keep possession better. Trotters work rate in centre midfield lately does not warrant him starting that role in my view (despite all his obvious talent) and all his good work is done going forward. Hopefully when we have the ball he can join the attack with Keough and the two wingers and when we don't have the ball he can sit in the whole between midfield and forwards and stop them playing (something which Burnley seemed to do at will on Saturday).

I hear Wilkinson is on the bench tonight, but really can't see him getting on instead of N'Guessan or Marquis which is a shame as watched him in the Youth Cup v Blackpool and he certainly doesn't lack confidence and knows where the goal is.... albeit at Under 18 level (but if you don't chuck these kids in sometimes, how will you ever know how they will respond)?

We (the fans) need to turn out tonight and really give it stacks!! We need to get The Den rocking and make plenty of noise!!

I agree Wilkinson needs a chance and quite frankly we aren't going to win this cup, our league form has dipped so why not give the lad a go!!

    Come on Wall!!!

Will be interesting tonight, that's for sure. Both teams will be up for it so reckon we'll see a few challenges flying in which always get the crowd going. Anyone know how many fans Villa are bringing?

A tough one but a game both teams need to get season going again, villa didnt really test Bradford away and didnt have enough at home, benteke as good as he is didnt really do too much against league 2 defenders and to be honest beevers and shittu would get in any league 1 side let alone league 2, be good to watch shittu and benteke going at each other. I think weimann is the one to watch bang on form at minute and tricky as f***.
Trotter behind keoghe Henry and feeney on the wings jimmi tidying up with wright in front of back four 15000 wall going beserk on a cold Friday night against a load of brummy kids flapping it, f*** the transfer talk for a night ang lets get stuck in to em.
