Jackett confirms Millwall will be without Tyson for a month

MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Nathan Tyson's ankle injury is likely to keep him sidelined for the next month.

Tyson damaged a ligament just minutes into his debut against Burnley last weekend and returned to parent club Derby County to undergo a scan.

The 30-year-old's injury, coupled with the departures of Chris Wood and Darius Henderson, leaves the Lions short of options up front but Jackett says he will be backed to strengthen his squad.

"Tyson will be out for about a month," Jackett said. "We've only got him on a three-month loan and he's going to miss the first of it. He's got an ankle ligament injury.

"His ankle is very swollen at present. We'll have to see how that is. We do need to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline. If we can, we will.

"We feel we have a good side but not a deep-enough squad and we need more competition in the forward positions. We need some fresh players that can supplement what we have.

"The chairman will back me financially in terms of bringing numbers in. It will not necessarily be a scatter-gun approach because that is not our style. We want to stay around these play-off positions.

"We want to be attacking the top part of this league. Is there someone coming in before Friday night or Tuesday? There’s nobody on the radar right now."

I think Kenny is being extremley over optimistic if he thinks we can stay around the Play Off places, given the current injuries and depth of the squad. If he does get new faces in, as he says there is nobody on the radar at the moment, it will take weeks to get them in and for them to settle, by which time the season will virtually be over. Maybe now is the time to build for the future. He says there is money there, but he won't just buy anyone one, quite right. All we want is players that give 100% week in week out. Players that are proud to wear the shirt.

Millwall and their transfer policy is really getting on my nerves lately, you have the likes of Palace bidding 1 million for Adomah plus who ever else they are after, yes i understand they have sold Zaha but we have around 2 million to spend, there are enough strikers in the lower leagues for less that a quarter of that and there are some premiership players out of favour we could get too. At the moment im disappointed.

I agree, the longer we leave it,without bringing some1 in,the longer were gonna have problems, a sneaky bid for pope (port vale) top goalscorer in the league, sure kenny can work his magic with him, although tbh, I would prefer a established striker, some1 proven at this level,

He -KJ - can't come out and tell us who he's after otherwise you'll have everyone else getting involved yeah we might have 2 million but I remember pheo saying McGee had loads of money and we blamed him for not spending it and now KJ is under similar pressure to spend his at the end of the day and it pains me to say it but we're millwall we get 10 /11000 people in so we just can't attract the big signing it ain't just spending 1m and hope he does alright he'll want 20 grand a week plus bonuses and a big signing on fee and no doubt his agent will want a cut so all of a sudden it's gone from 1m to nearly 2m, I just hope one day we go s*** or bust and see where it gets us Blackpool did and now they've got a couple quid although they're s*** now they've got more people turning up every week so they can afford a big signing.
I think we need players with prem experience and are hungry for it and a decent bully boy up front who don't mind throwing his weight around, if that don't work then another center half and throw shittu up front
