KENNY Jackett believes Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert will turn the Premier League club's fortunes around despite enduring a nightmare start to his time in charge.

Villa are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone in the Premier League table having won just four league games and were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by Bradford City in midweek.

That has left Lambert under pressure ahead of his side's visit to The Den in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday – just seven months into the job – but Jackett expects the Scot to ride the storm.

"You do have sympathy for people if you know them," he said. "You do empathise. We all watch to see how people handle situations – that is management.

"Paul has proven himself to be one of the top managers in the country over the last few years with his achievements at Norwich. I’m sure he will continue to prove that he's up there with the best.

"It is a precarious industry. As managers, it is our choice and we know buy imitrex 100mg what we're getting into – we know the way it is. In truth, it is a priviledge to earn your living in football."

The average age of Villa's squad is just 23-years-old and Jackett believes that inexperience may have hindered Lambert's progress at Villa Park.

"Up until recently, Villa's results have been very good," he said. "It was not too long ago that they beat Liverpool at Anfield, which was a fantastic win.

"Their clean sheets record up to then had been fantastic. Lately, it seems that confidence has gone out of their team.

"That's what happens when you have young players. But they'd been having a good season given the youth and inexperience of their side.

"They’ve had to replace the likes of Ron Vlaar and Richard Dunne with Nathan Baker, who was here on loan, and Ciaran Clark.

"They have had a good youth policy in recent seasons. Coaches like Kevin McDonald and Gordon Cowans have produced a lot of players.

"The first team are seeing the benefit with those guys coming through. But the Premier League is an unforgiving place."
