Exclusive: Forest make formal approach for Millwall striker

MILLWALL have received a formal approach from Nottingham Forest for striker Darius Henderson, NewsAtDen can reveal.

Henderson, who is out-of-contract in the summer, is the Lions' highest earner and manager Kenny Jackett could be tempted to sanction his departure to clear the decks for new signings.

Several Championship clubs have been monitoring the 31-year-old this month but new Forest boss Alex McLeish boss has made the first move and is confident of concluding a deal quickly.

Any transfer is unlikely to involve a fee as Henderson only has five months remaining on his current deal, which Jackett has said he will not consider extending until March.

Possibly Clearing the decks for NEW signings ??????? Not long left in this window and we have struggled so far to get a decent forward in, what makes KJ think if he gets rid of Hendo things will change in terms of being able to get someone decent in? (BTW I do have every faith in KJ, i'm just saying).

If he goes best of luck to him but where dose that leave us?
Clearing the decks well lets hope we bring someone in the next 8 days or we are the creek,we need someone who can pair up with keogh, there are rumours that we are in talks jason scotland not a bad player but we need someone young and that will stay not someone in their 30s

To be honest he's been awful lately so let him go but only if we have a replacement or 2 lined up! If we dont then why not have him sit out his contract since theres no fee involved!! the whole clearing the decks for new signings is a great way to look at it but so far we've struglled to attract anyone - Can't see us getting better in this window as much as i think Hendo is on too much money and terrible form!!

I don't think it's a case of 'if' but more like 'when'. I'm sure there are far better, younger players out there who know where the back of the net is and who doesn't get upset if he gets picked to play if it's cold and raining. Someone who's proud to wear that lion on their shirt. Someone who wants to get stuck in on the pitch and not a f****** restaurant. Someone who will give 100% every week and someone who can get 20+ goals a season! Personally, I won't be sorry to see him go, I just wish we had another Harris ready to replace him. Who knows, maybe there is?

Dont know why we dont go to tottenham and try for Harry Kane only bench warming at norwich at the moment sure he'd prefer to be playing week in week out and cant really see him breaking into spurs first team in the near future with what they got at the moment

Totally agree with davep - Kane is surely going to be keen to come back! Norwich are in for Hooper and Spurs are being linked with the world and his wife so we whould definitely be tapping them up and see how much they want for him - that would be ideal!!

All things considered, probably best for the club in the longer run, especially with the court case coming up. KJ must have someone waiting! COYL

Hendo always takes a few games to find his form, but if we are not going to get a fee then we should keep him till end of season and get some goals out of him. I believe he will get another 8-10 this season, startign with 3 against Villa who are rubbish. 31 really isn't that old TBH and he keeps himself in decent shape when he isn't crocked.

HOWEVER, if there is a high wage earner who is fit and hungry and about to come in then let him go as he may nt have his heart in it if he is kept against his will.

Good move if Hendo goes. Too injury prone to be our highest earner. Anyone could have sussed that before he joined Millwall. Would free up a substantial amount of wage for whoever is on KJ's radar. Do it Millwall.

Let him go KJ. We'd probably only give him another year if at all. We don't need him moping around unsettling the younger of the squad. I'd go in for Kane and try and nick Smith with him, they must know each other quite well and would feel more comfortable settling in.

I am a bit torn here. I was very unimpressed when we signed Henderson, but he proved that when fit and on song, he can make us tick. He brings other players into the game (Morison never did) and allows us to make the most out of Trotter and Henry for example. On top of that he has scored goals at a rate much higher than his prior record would have suggested was likely.

But...He has never forged an effective partnership with Keogh, is on a big wage, gets injured quite a bit, so perhaps it is time to move him on...

Having said that I really cannot face the prospect of watching Keogh and N'Guessan up front for the rest of the season, so unless we have a replacement lined up (and we really do need a target man) we should keep him

Hendo has proved he can score regularly in the Championship, but his stats they also show he struggles to play a full season. At 31, it's unlikely his fitness record is going to improve and to progress we need a strike partnership who can play together for 70-80 per cent of the season.
KJ signed Tyson because he knew there was a good chance clubs would come in for Hendo during the transfer window.
Clearly Tyson's injury has scuppered KJ's plans, but he said at the start of January that it would probably be the last week of the transfer window before he was able to do much business and I'd put a few quid on him making a permanent signing AND landing someone on loan.
Billy McKay permanent, Harry Kane on loan - job done!!!

Yes Kenny is the man for the job but he seriously needs to pull his finger out!! Henderson can get goals when fit, Tyson well the least said about him the better!! Keogh is not a natural goal scorer so we need someone decent to be brought in, woods was the o Ly striker to score and he wasn't even ours he reacted too slowly on that!! Tom pope, Clayton Donaldson both grabbing goals in the lower leagues give them a go!!

I agree that Pope or Donaldson would be worth a try. Hibs also have Leon Griffiths on loan fron Wolves who is scoring goals galore in the Scottish League. If Forest want Henderson what about doing a swap with David McGoldrick? He is only on loan to Ipswich from them having scored 16 or 17 goals for Coventry in League 1 during the first half of the season. If we do let Henderson go we need to sign 2 new strikers before the end of the transfer window because Batt, N'Guessan and Marquis are useless and Tyson is likely to be out for at least a month.

20 goals last season and 10 this season yet the majority don't like him. Is it that the mystery around d his absences put us off or in hearts we know he isn't Real Wall? I personally like him and think he is a proper Millwall player.

I don't dislike him, I don't think his heart is in it any more, with his injury and personal problems and his high wages, can just see the sense in it for us, IF we have a replacement lined up.
