Report: Burnley 1-3 Millwall

MILLWALL tore up the form book to record an impressive 3-1 victory at Burnley and end a five-match winless run in the league.

Kenny Jackett made five changes to the side that were beaten by Middlesbrough in midweek, bringing Alan Dunne, James Henry, Hamer Bouazza, Tony Craig and Jimmy Abdou into his starting line-up, whilst notably leaving top-scorer Darius Henderson on the bench.

But the Lions boss' bold approach paid-off as his side established a two-goal lead before half-time. Andy Keogh fired into the roof of the net after just 15 minutes, before midfielder Josh Wright blasted home a sensational 30-yard volley to leave the Clarets stunned.

And Harry Kane put the result beyond doubt when he calmly slotted home twenty minutes from time following an excellent through-ball from James Henry.

Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez scored a 93-minute consolation from the penalty spot after Shane Lowry's trip on Marvin Bartley, but nothing could take the gloss off a much-needed winning performance and, most importantly, a crucial victory for Millwall.

Burnley: Grant; Trippier, Duff, Edgar, Mee; Wallace, McCann (c) (Paterson 39), Bartley, Treacy (Easton 46); Rodriguez, Austin (Ings 46).

Millwall: Forde; Dunne, Robinson (c), Lowry, Craig; Henry, Abdou, Wright (Barron 75), Bouazza (Feeney 82); Kane (Henderson 88), Keogh.

As someone who has been very critical on this site, particularly of the manager, I think it is only right that I post when he and the team get it right. At last we played two wingers and players in their correct positions and what a difference. Credit where credit's due. Wright's goal was a screamer, one of the best I have ever seen in the flesh. I hope Saturday is a turning point and that I am eating humble pie at the end of the season
