MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett has called on his players to 'come out fighting' at Burnley tomorrow, insisting: the time for excuses is over.
The Lions, sitting just six points above the Championship relegation zone, travel to Turf Moor in desperate need of three points following their midweek home defeat to Middlesbrough.
And Jackett has vowed to right the wrongs of Tuesday's 3-1 loss.
"Excuses are not enough at the moment, we need results and winning performances," he told the club's official website.
"I include myself, the manager, in that – I need to find the winning formula and quickly.
"Against Middlesbrough they've still won the second half 1-0, which is frustrating. The third goal was easy for them – we were turned easily. The substitute Curtis Main looks a good player, but there are lots of good players in the Championship and our defence has to handle them.
"In our last two games we've been closed down very quickly in midfield and sides have created chances from that. You have to pass the ball quicker and that doesn't change depending on your style of play. You can't give the opposition chances and expect to win football matches on a consistent basis.
"Our back four has been brittle, not strong enough and has given poor goals away.
"Up front we've shown a lack of ability to get in behind defences, something that's eluded us all season, although we've played some good football at times. Those are three key areas where we need to improve. I don't mind if that's at home or away.
"We have to get a hold of these things and quickly. Otherwise it will just be excuses, talk and hot air.
"We have an experienced group of players with spirit and the right attitude. We've worked hard on the training ground and we need to come out fighting."
