JACK Smith says he happy to fill in wherever and whenever for Millwall this season – but admits playing a bit-part role has been frustrating.
Smith has been reduced to just 12 appearances this term after two separate injury spells and has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth in Kenny Jackett's line-up.
The 29-year-old has come on as a substitute in the Lions' last three games, featuring as a defensive midfielder rather than in his traditional position in defence.
He told NewsAtDen: "It's nice to come on as a substitute and play, but the team is doing well at the moment and that's just how it is.
"I guess I got injured at the wrong times and the team is quite settled, so I've just got to wait for my chance. When you come on for ten minutes, you've got to enjoy it as much as you can.
"Just getting on the pitch is nice at the moment. I still see myself as a full-back but, if the gaffer wants me to play in midfield, I enjoy it there as well.
"My strongest position is full-back but it seems like a while since I've played there."
