TOTTENHAM right-back Adam Smith admits he is unsure whether his loan spell with Millwall will be extended beyond January 25.

The England U21 international, who has previously confirmed he would be keen to stay at The Den, is due to return to Spurs in just over two weeks – but the Lions want to keep him for longer.

Two Premier League clubs, believed to be QPR and Aston Villa, have made enquiries about signing Smith and Hoops boss Harry Redknapp admitted last week that he was a fan of the 21-year-old.

But Smith said: "People get linked with clubs in January, that's just what happens. I've worked with Harry before and he's a top manager, but he'll contact Tottenham if he wants me.

"I'm happy here and I'm playing. So we'll see what happens. I won't hear anything until nearer the time so I'm just focused on playing at present.

"Forcing my way in at Tottenham is in the future. We'll have to wait and see what happens after this loan, whether I go back there or whether I stay here. Anything can happen in football."

Smith has blossomed in South London and, after scoring his first Millwall goal against Bristol City last week, set-up Liam Feeney's winner against Preston in the FA Cup on Saturday.

He said: "It's good to get a win in the FA Cup but it was not a pretty game to play in. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy the game either.

"I've been trying to score for a few games but most of my shots have been going wide. It was nice to finally get off the mark and hopefully I can get a few more.

"I want to get more assists and goals – that makes you more effective as a player. I'll keep on trying to do that."

Adam Smith is quality! I remember when Glen Johnson was on loan at the Den - you could see he would become a top player - same with Smith!
