MILLWALL boss Kenny Jackett admits he has taken 'one step forwards and one backwards' as a manager this season.
The Lions boss, who was speaking after Tuesday's 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough, also took responsibility for a horror first-half display against Tony Mowbray's play-off chasers.
And he conceded life has never been tougher at The Den with his side sitting just six points above the relegation zone and without a home win in five matches.
"You have to get your own side right and I didn't get my side right and ready for that first half against Middlesbrough," he told the Evening Standard.
"I don't feel let down by the players, they are playing with spirit and they did fight back.
"I do feel as a manager I've taken one step forward and one back. It's definitely the hardest patch since I've come here. It has been a frustrating year."
