TAMIKA Mkandawire wants to hold talks with Millwall boss Kenny Jackett about his future at the club after he has completed his loan spell at Southend United.

Mkandawire's deal with the Shrimpers expires after their fixture against Gillingham on Tuesday and the 28-year-old will discuss his contract situation with Lions officials upon his return to The Den.

The midfielder, who has made 11 appearances for Southend since the start of November, is a free agent in the summer but Millwall could yet offer him a contract extension.

Chief executive Andy Ambler told NewsAtDen: "Tam will return to us, have a chat with the manager and we will go from there.

"We'll sit down and talk about his long-term future. Tam wants to come back and, quite rightly, discuss his contract situation. All sorts of things could come out of that."

If he is half the player he was a couple of seasons ago, that would be enough for me, gives his all every game.

Where will he play? Plenty of central defenders and is he better the Josh Wright? Can't see him getting a game.

Different player to Wright, Tam is a defensive midfielder in the mould of Jimi so good to have cover. Wright is a ball player and does a different job for the team.
