MILLWALL have made an approach to sign Hull City striker Aaron Mclean on loan until the end of the season, NewsAtDen can reveal.

The former Peterborough frontman is on the fringes at the KC Stadium and Tigers boss Steve Bruce is ready to let the 29-year-old make the temporary switch to The Den.

The Lions are hoping to have a deal in place in time for Mclean to face Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Manager Kenny Jackett told NewsAtDen: "We've made enquiries about a number of players and Mclean is one of them. The ball is in Hull's court at the moment and we haven't heard anything yet.

"We have asked about him and it's down to his club to make the next move. He is an experienced forward and he knows the division, but he's not our only target.

"There are several players we have been lining up."

The former Leyton Orient trainee, who was born in Hammersmith, is keen to return south after struggling to make an impact at Hull since his £1million-plus move from Posh in January 2011.

Mclean had previously been one of the most lethal strikers in the Football League after scoring 67 goals in 148 appearances during four years at London Road.

N'guessen deverves a run in the team, plenty of effort yesterday and a good finish for his goal, confidence will grow given the chance.

Should be at the peak of his game at 29 but clearly not a big target man like Hendo. We need a back-up target man in case Hendo gets waylaid in the coming months or does not renew his contract in the Summer.

Not too sure about this one. Perhaps it's a ploy by KJ to keep Pearson off the scent of another stiker we may be looking at. Not good enough to get in the Hull team but good enough for us?

Despite his size he's remarkably good at winning headers, I think he can out leap most 6fters.
