WEST Brom boss Steve Clarke says it is far from certain that he will sell Chris Wood to Millwall or any other club in the January transfer window.

The Baggies boss has previously stated that he would only bring Wood back to the Hawthorns to cover injuries to his squad, but now says the 21-year-old may yet have a future in the Midlands.

The Lions have made a £1million-plus bid for the New Zealand international but face competition for his signature from Leicester City, Brighton and Huddersfield Town.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has also confessed that he has been monitoring Wood's displays at The Den and could yet join the race to sign him.

But Clarke said: "There is no guarantee of anything at the because the most important thing for me is West Brom and I have to do what’s right for them.

"Chris is one of our players who is out on loan at the moment and doing fantastically well. As and when a decision has to be made, it will be made in the best interests of the club.

"We have still got games to play before we get to January and the possibility of picking up injuries and suspensions.

"He's got a lot of clubs interested in him but at the moment he's still an Albion player and if I need him to come back here next month and help us, that's what we will do."
