KENNY Jackett praised Chris Wood's lethal finishing after the striker scored twice in a 2-2 draw with Brighton on Tuesday night.

Wood turned in Shane Lowry's cross to give the Lions a half-time lead on the south coast before adding a second from long range after the break.

The Seagulls hit back through Kazenga LuaLua and David Lopez to claim a point but Wood's brace – his ninth and tenth goals of the campaign – stole the show.

"Chris scored two good goals," Jackett said. "The second one was an absolute screamer, it was a terrific goal.

"He tired towards the end and it was tough for him. We need to get our other forwards fit to support him. It's hard to play 95 minutes of every game.

"That's the first time I've asked him to play up front on his own – it's a really tough role. We've been very pleased with him and he's fitted in with the other players."

Despite throwing away a two-goal lead, Jackett insisted he was pleased to leave the Amex Stadium with a point on the back of a home victory over Leicester City last weekend.

"I feel Brighton are the best side we've played this season, particularly at home where they generate a fantastic atmosphere," he said.

"They pass the ball very well and their substitutes are strong as well. They can get goals late into games and have a lot of firepower.

"I thought we put on a very good performance. I'm pleased with the result. In the first-half, our formation gave them problems and we created a number of chances.

"In the second-half, we came under a lot of pressure but that was going to happen because of their quality. We have to take this point and move on."
