WEST Brom boss Steve Clarke says he could recall Chris Wood from his loan spell at Millwall to cover injuries to his squad.

But there is confusion as to whether the Baggies could actually bring the 21-year-old back to the Hawthorns before his loan ends on January 1.

The Lions insist there is no clause to end the deal prematurely and that Wood will be staying at The Den until the New Year.

Clarke told the Birmingham Mail: "Wood we can recall whenever. It's something we might have to consider if the injury situation doesn’t clear up as quickly as we'd like.

"Some of those injuries might get worse and he's one of those players who could be recalled. I can recall him tomorrow if I want to."

Millwall have made a £1million bid to sign Wood permanently but Clarke admits there are several other clubs interested in the New Zealand international.

"Chris has gone to Millwall in the Championship," he said. "He's been fantastic and scored goals – a number of clubs have enquired about him.

"It's something we'll deal with in January. I’m keeping my options open going into the festive period."
