LEICESTER City boss Nigel Pearson has played down reports that he has tabled a £1million bid for Millwall loan star Chris Wood.

But the Foxes chief did not deny that he was interested in the West Brom striker – simply adding that he did not want to disrpupt the Lions' squad ahead of Saturday's match between the two clubs.

When asked by BBC Leicester whether he had made an offer, Pearson said: "£1million? No, not to my knowledge. There's always playful speculation at this juncture.

"I will reiterate what I always say – speculation is not something I'm going to court. I don't want to get involved. I think it's disrespectful and unsettling for teams that are trying to prepare for games."
