MILLWALL are set to offer midfielder Josh Wright a new long-term contract.
The 22-year-old's current deal is due to expire in the summer and NewsAtDen understands that talks to keep the former Scunthorpe star in SE16 beyond the end of the season are scheduled to begin shortly.
Despite making just five Lions appearances since joining the club in November last year, Wright is already understood to be attracting interest from rival Championship clubs and boss Kenny Jackett is keen to tie him down sooner rather than later.
The young playmaker is keen to remain in London and talks are expected to progress smoothly, although a successful outcome may be dependent on Millwall retaining their second-tier status for next season.
Jackett, speaking to the South London Press earlier this week, said of Wright:
"He has a future here. He is not yet 23 and has already played more than 130 games, and over half of them in the Championship with Scunthorpe.
"For his age, that is important experience. The way the modern game is going will suit him. He will have a good career ahead of him."
