Harris points to £30mil Owls man as example of gulf Millwall want to bridge

NEIL Harris admitted Sheffield Wednesday have an “enviable” squad after the Owls’ 2-1 win over the Lions on Tuesday night.

Wednesday, beaten in the play-offs in the last two seasons, moved above Millwall in the Championship table after the victory.

Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal was able to make five changes to his side from the 1-1 draw against Barnsley on Saturday, including match-winner Jordan Rhodes, who has commanded £30million in transfer fees from moves to Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough and the Owls.

His goal on Tuesday was the fourth of his career against the Lions.

“He’s not bad, is he? He’s not got a bad goal-scoring record, and certainly has a good goal-scoring record against Millwall,” Harris said.

“He’s always a threat, he never gives you a moment’s peace. Sheffield Wednesday have got an enviable squad for us to look at, that’s where we want to compete.

“They’ve got good players and they are going to be a team that will be right up there in the top six at the end of the season.

“We’ve got to make sure that if we’re going to be playing against quality teams we can’t give them a leg-up. Tonight we did, unfortunately.

“We’ve learned over the first few months of the season that you’ve got to use the squad. Carlos has made five changes from a team that put in a half-decent performance at the weekend.

“You have to utilise the squad and we’ve got a big game coming up Saturday.”
