Millwall's Morison set to miss Birmingham clash

MILLWALL striker Steve Morison  has a stomach tear and will be out  for the "foreseeable future”, Neil Harris said.

Harris revealed after the 1-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday that Morison had been carrying the injury for some time.

In the absence of skipper Morison, and with other candidates to take the armband Byron Webster and Shaun Williams also out, Harris named Shaun Hutchinson captain against the Bees.

Harris said: “Steve Morison has a tear in his stomach. He’s had it for two weeks and he will be out for the foreseeable future.

“I doubt very much he will be fit for Birmingham.”

On Hutchinson being named captain, Harris explained: “With Tony [Craig] not in the side as club captain, we then have Steve Morison as vice-captain who isn’t available at the moment.

“Bryon Webster and Shaun Williams have already done it for me this season.

“All four players aren’t in the side so I have to find leadership from other avenues.

“As you all witnessed today they played with aggression and on the front foot – like a Millwall team.

“They don’t always lead by voice. They’ll all lead by example as they are great lads.”

The Lions boss added: “I decided that Hutch is dominant, he’s aggressive, his performances have been outstanding this season.

“He leads by example every day on the training ground. He’s respected by the players so he is somebody that falls naturally into that category.

“He has a lot to learn as a leader and he will develop.

“It was a tight call between a couple of players, but I think Hutch’s professionalism dictated the decision.”
