Barnsley have been busy in the transfer market this summer after exceeding most expectations by comfortably surviving in the Championship last season following promotion from League One.

Lloyd Isgrove scored in the 2016 play-off final against Millwall, and he has joined the Tykes on a permanent basis after his release by Southampton.

Former Manchester United and Tottenham defender Zeki Fryers will hope to finally deliver on his promise after signing from Crystal Palace.

Fryers is one of a number of bargain signings alongside defender Liam Lindsay from Scottish Premier League side Partick Thistle, and Jason McCarthy, another arrival from Southampton. Barnsley also looked north of the border to bring Scottish under-21 midfielder Stevie Mallan in from St Mirren.

Barnsley defeated Millwall three times in their promotion-winning 2015-16 campaign, before boss Paul Heckingbottom enhanced his reputation by leading them to 14th place in a competitive Championship.

Barnsley are again tipped to be one of the struggling sides this season, and are 2/1 to be relegated.
