League One preview: AFC Wimbledon vs. Millwall

MILLWALL have had almost a day more to recover than opponents AFC Wimbledon before their meeting on Monday afternoon.

Millwall defeated Gillingham 2-1 on Friday night before the Dons lost 2-0 to Bristol Rovers on Saturday. They face a Lions side chasing a fourth successive win.

AFC Wimbledon frustrated Millwall at The Den in November when they held the home side to a scoreless draw, but there has been an eight-point swing between the sides since then, with Millwall just a point off the top six.

Millwall boss Neil Harris has named the same starting XI for three successive games and his side have won all three of them.

He could decide to start the likes of Mahlon Romeo, Shane Ferguson and David Worrall before a fourth fixture in 10 days.

Meanwhile Neal Ardley has called on his players to produce the old “Wimbledon spirit” against the Lions.

“It does not get any easier,” he told the club’s official website.

“Next we have Millwall, who are in a run of good form, and then we have Oxford and Rochdale to come to our place.

“You can’t start playing like individuals when the going gets tough. That’s the message I’ve given the players.

“When the going gets tough we have to come together.

“We have to get ready for another hard game against a team who are physical and play at a good intensity. We have to stand up to that.

“We have to get back the old Wimbledon way and the Wimbledon spirit, something we’ve lacked in the last few weeks.

“We are trying our hardest to get that spark back into the group, but when you lose a couple of games the confidence dips a little."

Ardley has Lyle Taylor available again after suspension.
