Millwall boss hoping Morison injury not serious

NEIL Harris confirmed Steve Morison suffered a knee injury in Millwall's 1-0 FA Cup first-round win over Southend.

Morison went down off the ball in the 42nd minute of the contest and had to be stretchered from the pitch.

Asked if he knew the extent of the injury, Harris said: “We don’t know, it’s his knee. There was no one around him and it’s always a worry when that happens. We now just hope for a little bit of luck that it’s not serious.”

Ben Thompson had to be taken off at half-time after he had shipped a heavy tackle from Shrimpers centre-back Ryan Inniss.

Thompson is now also a doubt for Millwall’s EFL Trophy clash with Luton on Tuesday night.

“I’ve not seen it back but I thought there were a lot of challenges that were questionable,” Harris said. “Ryan is a lad that’s on loan from Crystal Palace so it’s a local game to him and he’s a wholehearted player.

“I presume it was head to head, Ben’s got a cut to his ear. We’ll have to see how he responds in the next 72 hours to see whether he’s available for Tuesday.”
