NEIL Harris is “hopeful” that Lee Gregory will be available for Millwall’s Sky Bet League One play-off campaign.

Gregory last played for the Lions against Fleetwood on April 19 when he was taken off at half-time, and the club immediately opted for surgery with the striker continuing to be affected by a stomach muscle problem.

Millwall play Gillingham in the last league game of the season next Sunday, before the first leg of the play-offs on May 14 or 15, depending on where Harris’ side finish in the table.

Aiden O’Brien has partnered Steve Morison up front for Millwall in Gregory’s absence, but Harris isn’t ruling his top scorer out of the play-offs.

“He had a tear in a stomach muscle that he’d been playing with for a period of time,” Harris explained.

“He hadn’t been training and was just appearing in games and getting through the pain barrier.

“It got to the stage where he could no longer do it, and we got him in as soon as we knew the pain had got to an extent we couldn’t manage it.

“We’re hopeful that he’ll be back involved for the play-off games.”
