THERE were contrasting fortunes for three of Millwall’s youngsters in the National League on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Tom King kept his fourth successive clean sheet, and fifth in seven games, as Braintree defeated table-toppers Cheltenham to stay in fifth place in the table to remain in the hunt for promotion to League Two.
Midfielder Jack Powell was on the bench for the Iron.
Defender Noah Chesmain was on the losing side as Welling went down 1-0 to Gateshead at home. Chesmain has yet to taste victory in 12 games in a Welling shirt as they extended their winless league run to 22 games.
There was no luck either for striker Alfie Pavey as Aldershot lost 4-0 at Altrincham.
In League Two, John Marquis started for Northampton as they came from two goals down to beat Stevenage 3-2 and move 17 points clear of fourth-placed Plymouth. Barring a calamitous run-in the Cobblers, for whom Lee Martin was on the bench at Broadhall Way, should ensure automatic promotion with games to spare.
In National League South Keaton Wood’s Dartford lost 2-0 to Havant & Waterlooville.
5th clean sheet of my time here at Braintree yesterday and to do it vs top of league makes it… https://t.co/UMnb4CsAyc

Very disappointing result today. Just got to hang in there and results will follow.
