Millwall boss in no rush to strengthen after opening-day loss

KENNY Jackett played down the prospect of strengthening his squad in the wake of Millwall's opening-day loss to Blackpool.

The Lions boss has until August 31st to bring in new players before the transfer window shuts but he appeared to be in no rush to enter the market after his side's 2-0 defeat to the Tangerines.

But Jackett's desire to sign a new striker has been well documented and having been linked with Barnsley left-back Jim McNulty and Brighton's Marcos Painter in recent days, it would appear Millwall are still making enquiries about new additions.

However, Jackett insisted no deals are imminent and says he will keep faith with Darius Henderson and Andy Keogh up front for the time being.

He said: "I don't think I have anybody in mind or anyone in my bracket that is close to signing. The equation firmly lies with the players we have at the moment to work it out.

"I was quite encouraged by Henderson and Keogh. I think if they play that way then they will score goals. James Henry's delivery was also very good coming off both wings. If we have those players then we'll do well going forward."
