Went today and thought we played quite well. Problem was not much of it was in the final third. When we got in behind the crossing was poor. Soutend scored two goals from about 3 chances. We switched off on both goals, particular the 2nd goal from a short free kick. Webster, TC and Fred were very poor and the latter two players need to practice their crossing. All in all a poor result against a below average team. Wish we could play all our games away!?

Gotta give parris a start ahead of Fred, he hasn't been doing enough going forward and certainly not enough without the ball and defending..... When does marquis hey a run too? The kid scored plenty last year in this division, gotta be better than Greg's surely?..... Thought we played well today but no finisher. Southend mugged us today, thought they were terrible.

@les the lion: Or why not play Paris on the opposite wing as Fred? like someone else said, defences wont want to double up on the both of them so there will be more space. I think they'd do really well if they both played on either wing.

@The Lion: yeah, true.... Gotta be better than playing Upson out of position on the left wing..... And did anyone notice Tony Craig yesterday? Thought he was anonymous, did see his contribution at all, very quiet verbally too and at fault for the second goal, now where near tight enough to the Southend goal scorer. Think Martin has to come in at left back and Beevers and Webster looked a good pairing again today.... while I'm moaning, think we are wasting our time with Greg's, not good enough, only scores pens....

Credit to Southend.. they came to rob us and they did. They parked the bus and let us play to the wings - knowing their lads at the back could deal with the crosses. Ref was poor as usual and their players wasted every bit of time they could pretending to be injured. We were poor but still we were the better side - we just got mugged.. now lets move on before things get toxic again.

We seem very slow to react to changes in other teams or when it's clear that either our players aren't playing well or set up correctly. It's not unexpected as we have a rookie manager. I don't want him out, but he has to show he has learnt from the mistakes. Spot the errors and fix them quickly. COYL

@glyngo: yes I doubt it's me getting great tactical awareness but yesterday it was clear that Fred needed taking off long before he actually was.

Also Craig struggling at lb so him rather than Beevers should have been replaced by Ferguson.

Harris really does need to react quicker to problems on the pitch. The above were pretty obvious to spot. At least he doesn't seem to have inherited the Holloway approach of subs and reshuffles that made no sense other than to him.

3 things to say Joe Martin should have played and Replace TC or Webster, also Thompson and Marquis should or could change around the game but all hands and credit to Southend.

its down to turn around the nightmare and change formation 4-3-3 add PCH,Marquis and Ferguson.

I cannot believe what i am reading from some poster's,Webster played well IMO,the one big disapointment was fred right from the start i thought he was carrying an injury,he seemed lifeless did not make space for himself,i thought NH should have subbed him earlier than he did.
As far as Webster is concerned i think some people are being a bit unfair to him.

@jim1222: problem with webster jim is he seems like the rest of the team to only put in a performance away from the den, he gave away some poor free kicks due to his stupidity, and has no pace what so ever, our central pairing has no pace and southend had a nailed on pen waved away by that useless ref. people on here were saying we'll do em 5-0 at the mo i'll settle for 0-0 and nick a point just to break this hoodoo.

Edwards was our best player followed maybe by Williams in my opinion, but overall Bentley in goal for Southend looked a class act with three very good saves, can't see him staying at Southend much longer.

Same old thing thought beevers and Webster were solid at C B Carlos faultless at R B so play Ferguson at LB and get the ball moving quicker to the front line think Paris has to start over Fred knows how to beat a player and can put a cross in that's the difference between winning and losing no more sentiment Carlos captain Craig on bench and let's keep cheering the boys on

@davep263: exactly so, Dunne was slagged off most of last season and for as long as I can remember, but I would pick him over Craig at LB.

Really not sure why we signed him based on his performances so far and should never have been made captain.

Harris you made the tough call to drop Forde and Archer has been fantastic. Show you're the man for the job and drop Craig for Ferguson.

We have had 2 really good games guys, and we seem to have people here that when we are winning become the biggest lion fans in the world then as soon as we loose its "we should have done this, millwall is sh*t and step down Harris" how about stick behind your team and stop going from one extreme to the next we have had one bad game we can only improve, understandable everyone is annoyed but stop slating every single descion cause I'm sure who ever moans couldn't do a better job!!!

@FrMillwall: problem is it's the home games that the majority of the fans on here go to see. However well we play away only a few hundred fans are seeing what this team may be capable of doing on a regular basis.

1000s go to the Den and continue to see us lose yet again. 4 home defeats in a row is the worst start at home EVER.

If we had won once away and at home yesterday that would still be 6 from 9pts in the last 3 games but because one of those wins would have been at home there would be a lot more positivity.

Currently if you break down the league table we are 2nd (only gd stopping us being top) for away form but rock bottom in 24th for home form.

To me the only players to come out of yesterday with any credit was Edwards and Archer.
Our midfield is just not good enough.
Too weak and easily knocked off the ball.
    All three are too similar.
None of them could score if they stayed all day.
Why or why does Wiliams take free kicks ?
To me O`Brien was trying too hard and looked all over the place.
Morison is a shadow of the player we had in 2010.
As I said before Fred should of been taken off at half time.
After all the s**t Home performances we have had to put up with over the last 3 or 4 years,I never in a month of Sundays thought we could get relegated and LOSE all 4 of our Home games.
I believe JB was there yesterday - Well Mr Berlyson this is what you get when you do not invest properly in players (and Managers) over the last few years.

@Charlie09: It's about time though, isn't it. At least we've got a couple of players who can do the job. IMHO, Longfield is right (above), the board (either Berylson or one of the other faceless donkeys) needs to invest or we are going to have a very disappointing season. Of course, as we haven't invested in the summer, and we are banned for the winter window, loans are the only option. Step forward another load of mid-thirties has-beens. You couldn't make up the fiasco of the last two seasons.

Yesterday was my first game of the season. Where are the basics, we play in BLUE shirts, giving the ball away every time its thumped up the field, passing to open spaces for players to run on to at speeds and angles that the chasing player has NO chance to get, and the spat by Morison to Cowen-Hall, said it all , to me, passes being intercepted left right and centre, none of the players deserve a good rating. I hope this improves as I need to see ten games a season to make my season ticket pay for itself.
Southend Two Shots on target Two goals, I counted seven shots on target all stopped by the keeper so easily, at least I could as a team give the better ratings per player, than our lot, played as a team, and played with togetherness, not us
Ah we another loss mid week I fear is on the cards, if we play collectively as bad
    Rant over

Perhaps David Forde is not that bad, he just seems to have very poor defenders in front of him at home of all places, as Archer is finding out.

We lost to Barnet in the League Cup.
We lost to the Portuguese team in a home friendly.
THAT's SIX GAMES ON THE SPIN AT HOME LOST. YES 6 GAMES AT HOME LOST ON THE SPIN.
THE FACT IS REGARDLESS OF ALL THE OPTIMISM WE WILL BE RELEGATED ANY OTHER MANAGER THAN NH YOU WOULD ALL BE SHOUTING FOR HIS HEAD - REMEMBER KJ, SL & OLLIE YOU HOUNDED THEM ALL OUT.
LUMP ON WALL WILL BE PLAYING BROMLEY NEXT SEASON IN DIV 2 CERT BET STILL ITS A LOCAL DERBY.
LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL - OH YES - I REMEMBER EVERYONE SAYING PLAY THE KIDS DO THIS AND DO THAT - WELL LOOK AT THE RESULTS AND THE TABLE AND I JUST CANNOT SEE WALL BEATING ROCHDALE AT HOME NEXT SAT - HARRY MUST BE SPINNING UP THERE.

To be fair the team were playing fairly well until they went 1-0 down, then they as always when go behind seem to panic. But why is it every time we go forward we rarely look like scoring but as soon as the opposition go forward they look like scoring no matter who they are.

      @skelly53:

yes we panic because we do not have a settled style or tactics which comes from playing players who cant do the job they have been given so they revert to banging it forward
at home when you are supposed to take the initiative we cannot play Williams in front of the back four and have abdou carrying no offensive threat Upson isn't quick so therefore our midfield is too easy to play against - Fred is limited and so they sit off us and we cant play our way through . It is simple - no pace or penetration- away from home we get more space to play on the counter and so it works better NOT GOOD ENOUGH _ NEED BETTER PLAYERS - HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SAID

Maybe Tony Craig needs to be replaced to Joe Martin and next on Team sheets should include starts for Shane Ferguson and Fred Oyedinma rest Paris Cowan Hall + Upson. Its not to do with the players its the strategy and formation to play against Southend.
