Wycombe boss standing firm over asking price for Beavon

WYCOMBE manager manager Gary Waddock has warned Millwall and Preston that he will not sell Stuart Beavon on the cheap.

Both clubs have had offers snubbed for the striker by the League Two club amid growing speculation surrounding the 28-year-old's future.

Beavon missed Wanderers' League Cup tie at Watford on Saturday due to illness, news that prompted frenzied speculation that a transfer was imminent.

However, NewsAtDen has been told that contrary to suggestions, Preston have neither agreed a fee nor personal terms with Beavon.

But North End have emerged as marginal favourites to land the frontman, with Kenny Jackett said to have backed away from negotiations in recent days.

Waddock, who wants a package worth £350,000 for his top-scorer, said: "He’s a very good player who had an outstanding season last year.

"He’s still under contract with us and you guys [the press] will be the first to know if there’s anything from another club that meets the valuation of what we believe he’s worth."
