Carlos Edwards proves his fitness to win new Millwall deal

CARLOS Edwards has re-signed for Millwall on a short-term deal until January.

The 36-year-old defender has proved his fitness to manager Neil Harris following 11 months out with the knee injury he suffered against Nottingham Forest last September.

Edwards' contract expired over the summer but he has been working his way back to full fitness with the club and impressed in a number of Elite Development Squad fixtures recently.

The news is a boost for Harris, who said during the closed season Edwards’ leadership qualities were missed with the Lions battling against relegation from the Championship last term.

Shaun Cummings has started at right-back in Millwall’s four games so far in League One and Edwards will now add extra competition to that area as well as bringing valuable experience to the defence.

He could also be available for Saturday’s visit of Chesterfield to The Den.

Even though i would prefer him at RB as i don't think cummings has done enough to make the position his, even having edwards RM would be a plus. Having pace on the right and knowing carlos can do his defensive duties to would be comforting to know. Hopefully he can re discover the form we know as would be a life saver to us right now

Well Done Carlos glad to see you back.. we need you at RB to fit competition with Shaun Cummings as the player has not recently shown his talent in deffence anyways we need a Gueye or Bessone to this League One

Goes to show what a Pro this guy is. With his injury and age 99.9% of players would have jacked it in.
Now Carlos take ´em by the scruff of their f*****g necks and sort ´em out

Defiantly a fantastic decision. Strong, hard working and a experienced player. Cummings is not good enough for me, he takes to long to get in the game and is constantley focused on the ball not on his player. Lets hope Bomber starts Carlos on Saturday...

Class act - goes against my generalisation that over 30s are not good players. Welcome back Carlos - should be club captain

Carlos must play .......probably not fit for overlapping .....but he can sort out the back 4......keep TC at left back and Sid and Beevers or Webster in middle ,

Great news but we must remember he has been out for 11 months so let's give him a few games to get back to his best( hopefully), and let's hope the moron boo boys don't get on his case if he makes a mistake.

A massive welcome back Carlos and by god you've been badly missed, so much so that you was always going to feel like a new signing.

Lord give me strength rather go for Carlos Edwards than Shaun Cummings on RB or RCB more stronger with Deffending and attacking at same time. Cummings should sit out to the bench aswell Forde,Williams and Upson.. time to bring to the test Powell+Thompson & Marquis playing time on the field looks like to be then
