CARLOS Edwards has re-signed for Millwall on a short-term deal until January.

The 36-year-old defender has proved his fitness to manager Neil Harris following 11 months out with the knee injury he suffered against Nottingham Forest last September.

Edwards' contract expired over the summer but he has been working his way back to full fitness with the club and impressed in a number of Elite Development Squad fixtures recently.

The news is a boost for Harris, who said during the closed season Edwards’ leadership qualities were missed with the Lions battling against relegation from the Championship last term.

Shaun Cummings has started at right-back in Millwall’s four games so far in League One and Edwards will now add extra competition to that area as well as bringing valuable experience to the defence.

He could also be available for Saturday’s visit of Chesterfield to The Den.
