we are in serious s*** if NH really thinks that was terrific - we look weak all over the park - that was Scunthorpe we were playing - it is not as if we have looked good in our past games

beevers looks uncertain, dithering , panicking - Nelson , his usual bad positioning and rash challenges - cummings watching two men at the far post , like Barnsley no one defending the deep ball - also not closing down midfield shots

as things stand the best we can hope for is mid-table which I think is a pathetic situation - unless we get some proper quality at the back and some midfielder boss (oh and of course someone who can score up front) then it is going to be a season of utter mediocrity - I fail to see why things will improve much - perhaps a few of the kids will get better as the season goes on , but the main issue is that the core players are not good enough for promotion (are we happy with that JB AA NH? - over to you)

who hits that ball out of defence at 1:08 , Thompson? - there is a simple ball on for abdou , but no, smash it dangerously up the middle looking for a miracle ball to Fred - You just cant do that in professional football - bad decisions, bad technique, bad composure, bad coaching

I have tried to be patient with our centre backs, thinking Holloway and others have messed them up but one must come to the conclusion that beevers and Webster and now Craig just aint good enough - slow ,cumbersome, unathletic poor distribution (things you might wish for in a footballer)- unless they have someone good alongside them, and that is not Nelson, they will be found wanting all season - We lack pace apart from Fred and have for a long time - will someone address these problems or will NH keep thinking performances like that are terrific

    we need to find

    1 powerful, direct fast forward
    2. centre back who can actually play football
    3. midfielder who can dominatecontrol possession

@timchimes: I said I'll comment after 5 games I couldn't have put it better myself. We need a CB that commands his bk 4. Williams heart ain't in it get rid & put Powell in. Play 3 up with obrien in for Gregory & let the midfield pass the ball more instead of aimlessly punting up towards our strikers. Coyl

it does look like Archer has papered over the cracks in this game.....we have to sort out our defence and play 4 at the back .....forget the overlapping full backs .......and play 4-4-1-1 with Fred behind Morrison we need a Nicky Bailey " type " in midfield....... play the George Graham way ......

@teddy.T: On the defence part teddy,we have not had a defence coach and it has shown over the last few season's,it is the defence that has been as much of a problem as failing to score,so you just might have something on that score.
I really do hope that if Archer make's the number 1 spot his he really does take the responsability of putting his defence in their place.I did note he had a pop at Nelson for making his mistake.
We do need a strong character to take charge in defence, something we have been missing for sometime .

My view is us fan's should show loud support for NH.
On the flip side NH has said he is not going to buy for the sake of it,maybe he has the money but in his view the player's that are available are not what he want's.

Apparently Usain Bolt would like to take up football sometime and is hoping a club might come in for him. So come on Millwall we could do with a bolt of lightning up front, plus he would add thousands to the gate ! It's a win win situation! If only.

Not seen much mention of Cummings, I thought he had his best game for us yesterday, also the highlights show Nelson getting caught out a bit for Maddens chance, but other than that Sid had a good game, he put a rhino-esqe tackle in on Van Veen, who up to then was putting himself about a bit.

I wish people would get a grip on where we are at the moment though, fed up people belittling the likes of Barnsley and scunthorpe, reminds me of being in the championship and ex premier league clubs like Reading, hull, qpr and others saying they shouldn't be playing the 'likes of Millwall' as if their something special. We are a third division club and everyone has to accept it, we are in for a tough season and have no god given right to get out of it, every point, as we have seen so far will be hard fought for, as far as I'm concerned yesterday was definitely a point gained rather than two lost.

I am not belittling Scunthorpe per se but their current team - it isn't very good according to recent results
rather like you wouldn't belittle Bournemouth now but you would have 6 years ago

forget the name , just look at what you are watching

the wider point is why are we scrapping for points , at this level - why do we have so little quality

I take your point mate but we are coming off the back of two and a half absolutely wretched seasons, I just think it's gonna take a bit more time to get that legacy and general feeling of impending disaster out of the system. Now whether Harris is the man to do it remains to be seen but I'm willing to give him a chance.

The big thing for me is our home form, I've no explaination as to why it's so bad, but one things for sure it needs immediate improvement as each loss/ draw is putting a little bit more pressure on Harris, just as it did for lomas and the other a*******. Wouldn't it be nice to see a good run of wins at home to take away that anxiety that was so evident against Barnsley.

yes it was a mess, with confidence rock bottom and I don't underestimate the job of pulling that around, but home results will only improve with more quality on the pitch . I know Joe Martin is to come back and he might solidify the defence and who knows, Carlos, but it is bigger than that , look at Chelsea; they are champions and Mourinho knows they are not good enough this year so they buy Pedro - I know we aren't talking the same dollars but within our budget we have to get players who win make the difference at this level, that is what good managers do - and I know NH says he wont be rushed but how many more points do we drop before it happens

Ha ha, nothing wrong with a little bit of self confidence, but when it turns into arrogance it's a long way down and these teams like nothing better than sticking the proverbial pin in our balloon. I reckon it could take us ten or so games to find our best eleven and system of playing, it was interesting to see Williams looking a bit more comfortable alongside Jimmi and Thompson, although he should have buried that chance in the first half.

@timchimes: Maybe a goldfish and balloon. I tell you we what we get, we get a failure off the wage bill. The bloke runs around , but creates nothing for others and misses sitters , if he had converted half the absolute sitters he had last year we would not have gone down !! Just a reminder 5 goals ( not incl penalties ) in 45 appearances. FFS sake I cant believe anybody is interested in him. I am happy to happy to drive him to Huddersfield and provide the balloon and goldfish.
AOB - Morro - Fred , - that will work well and perhaps buy in a really big lump for plan B

Gregory 5 goals ( not incl pens ) in 45 and 2 assists !! That is just woeful !!! The bloke has just not got it, FFS he missed an open goal from a yard last week or should we just call it a block on the line !!

A reality check, watch the highlights of the Championship games played last weekend and then watch these.
Ever since KJ left the issue has been organisation - there simply isn’t any. And it is far from obvious that NH has the experience to build from the wreckage left by the moron Hollowhead.
Cummins and Nelson is not a safe combination, Cummins is too often out of position and Nelson does not have the speed to cover. Beevers is alright but needs to toughen up and remember if in doubt, put it out. Who knows what is happening at left back. And what midfield?
Perhaps hire Martin Keown as a defence coach? He seems to have a pretty wide portfolio of jobs now.

I agree - I don't think people realise how weak we are - why should we beat Chesterfield on Saturday - what is it that makes that a likelihood ?

If there is not a good likelihood that we will win (and who could be confident) then it tells you what you need to know - I am not saying we wont win but wouldn't have any money on it

Is it only me or was Beever's foul outside the box and nothing more than obstruction??? Very unlucky to have a penalty awarded for that. Left back continues to be an issue though, TC clearly trying his best but getting caught out of position a numbers of times.

Have to say watching them highlights doesn't fill me with confidence, we look very disorganised and gifted them way too many opportunities! We are so vulnerable to simple ball over the top and dig holes through hospital type panic clearances, if it wasn't for Archer would have got spanked yet again...

And how Williams missed that chance is beyond me, it was such a lazy finish. Was poor second half of last season and seems to be lowering his standard even further, the man should be ashamed of himself!!

Positives in that Sid looks like a true leader, prepared to put his body in the line for the shirt and plays with hundred percent commitment. If we can get Archer, Sid, Fred and Aiden as our spine for the future things will eventually improve!!
