Very poor performance. Beevers was very uncomfortable at fullback. Webster not clever enough to deal with the sharpness of Coventrys movement though its fair to say our midfield were overrun by Coventry and that put a lot of pressure on the defence. Forde maybe questioned for the first goal but not sure there was much he could do about ant of the others, though it strikes me he has lost his appetite somewhat?? Not as commanding and domineering a figure as he once was. In short I thought only Fred played anywhere near his best. We started relatively well too and looked well up for it. i'll finish by giving credit to Coventry who looked sharp, fast bright and clever. Their movement and passing was excellent.

      @Aaaup:
There is no "maybe" about the first one it was 100% Forde's fault. The second goal saw him beaten at his near post. The third was probably a lost cause but he should have stood up. The last goal was an unfortunate deflection to set the bloke up and although he was at a bit of an angle it was well hit so I don't blame the keeper.

More generally though I have no idea who this commanding and domineering figure is that you are referring to cos Forde had never been either - shouty and whingy after the event yes but his career has tended to veer between flapping about like a headless chicken and being stapled to his line. Given a choice I tended to prefer the latter technique.

Every one of the goals was too easy. Forde should be wearing clown shoes and a red nose as part of his kit. Same for the rest of the defence.
As I said after the Tondela match, why is everyone so surprised that the team isn't delivering? These are mainly the same players who bottled it last season. Putting the club's all-time goal scorer in charge isn't going to change that.
Webster, Williams, Upson, Beevers and Forde have to go. They don't have the fight or the ability.
The board need to get a grip and spend some money or we are going down this season.

I don't blame Beevers (at the moment) cos he just plain shouldn't be at left back. In the absence of t'other Morgan we have Craig or Ferguson and although neither are ideal it makes more sense to bung one of them in there than poor old Beevers

Let's hope Harris can sort this team out. It's early in the season. We have time but unless we bench the poor lightweights. We will be in trouble

If Forde is not dropped on Tuesday there is a problem, too many chances too shine and always f**** up, Archer has to start, Ferguson in for Beevers who is no left back, play players in position super Neil don't go down the IH road!!

Forde has to be dropped first goal to far out, second lost his near post and third went down way to quick.
Beavers, if bringing on Ferguson at left back Beavers should have been placed in middle and substituted Williams, know its good to have a right and left centre back pairing but better f both are mobile?
We also suffered due to their tactics on attack they went 4-2-4 bypassing our midfield way to quickly. Defending 4-4-2 we only looked in the game when we started pressing the two in midfield stifling their ability to move the ball so rapidly.
Early days for team early days for NH, wall lets look at this as a reality check most feel Coventry are best in league, we caught them very early on keep the faith. COYL!!!!!!!!!

Not a manager but looked like the defense were too much Man to man marking, rather than zonal marking, all the defence in too small an area!! Giving the opposition too much room all over the pitch!!! Just a thought

@jim1222: I don't know tbh mate, wasn't able to go sat working, but I'll be there Tuesday & I hope to see some changes, bombers got to make a stand against the under achieving first team members IE: Forde - Webster - play Beevers CB - Williams, maybe swap PCH with Martin, start with Archer, Carlos, Beevers Nelson, Fergie, upson Powell or Thompson, PCH- Fred, Greggs & Morrison IMO

we really lack a player in midfield to win the ball and take control of a game. Williams for me is too light weight and slow to react to a tackle with no bite or snap and Upson is working hard but no support from him. Edwards needs to be tested and put Craig and nelson in the middle then Ferguson Lb, Powell with Upson with Fred and PCH for pace on the wings and the Morrison and Gregory up front looking for Powell's passes. Got to to give Harris plenty of time to get ut right. But mid table would be a good result looking at our squad this season. Terry Hurlock relace your boots mate.

Next game against Barnsley line up should be: Archer - Carlos Edwards-Nelson-Beevers-Fergie-Powell-Thompson- Martin-Morison-Marquis-Pavey Attacking & Deffencing Formation 4-3-3 so that all Strickers have left middle and right as option to push and move forward

If Forde is not dropped after being lobbed for being too far off his line and beaten at his near post - HE NEVER WILL !!
Beevers should never play left back again.
Webster should never play for Millwall again.
The whole defence are too slow and were so open it was untrue.
Williams and Upson are too similar and too lightweight.
I have said before and will say again I am not sure at all about Gregory.
Martin is a waste of time as well.
All in all we are in a mess and it looks like being another hard season.

Couldn't watch this and as I live in Coventry and work with a fair few of their fans, I thinking will be telling quite a few of them to to f*** themselves tomorrow. Might have to link Jimmy hill to Jimmy Seville

Have a look at Williams for their 4th goal, the moment O'Brien lays the ball off its obvious it's the 'old one two' scenario, except Williams doesn't even make the effort to track him, his body language is that of a man who doesn't want or even care about winning the ball. Totally unacceptable, until recently I'd argue Williams' case with anyone but now I can't see why he deserves a place in the squad, let alone the team.

I'm so disappointed in him, Forde, Upson, Webster, Cummings and Martin, they are experienced team members who should be leading from the front not going missing in action.

Questions need to be asked of whoever scouted Coventry as well, everyone all week was talking about Armstrong, yet he had all the space to do as he pleased, and what about their tricky right winger, the last person who should be up against him is a 6ft plus central defender. After all Coventry had us well sussed out, everytime Fred got the ball anywhere remotely near the danger area they were over him like a rash, closing him down and denying him space- exactly what we failed to do up the other end. I'm always against making rash decisions but I feel it's maybe time to take a leap of faith with Sid, Powell, Thompson and maybe even Philpot, Archer in goal is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Personally I thought Morison had a good game, the only one of those who started; won his headers, held the ball up and looked to bring others in to play. Gregory on the other hand still looks out of his depth. In the absence of O'Brien, who I hope will be a good foil for Morison and who I think could develop into a very good player, I would try playing Fred just behind Morison on Tuesday. I think he gets too easily isolated and nullified on the wing. He's quick and he's tricky; neither of which I can say about Gregory. Then that just leaves the goalkeeper, the defence and the midfield to sort out! Easy

If anyone had any doubt that Millwall need a defensive coach they need only watch this video.
Look at the positioning of Webster and Craig for the first, even if the Coventry player had not taken on the shot he had an option to his right where his forward had split Craig and Beevers. There are seven Millwall players on screen for the second, huddled together, none getting a tackle in and all taken out by one pass to a completely unmarked wide man. Webster plays the man onside for the third – but why is Craig so far away from him? Why are they both so far up the field when they are so much slower than the Coventry attack? Why is the Millwall midfield not tracking back? As the goal goes in there is an unmarked Coventry player waiting for any rebound. And the fourth – what is Craig doing and worse what was Williams thinking about? Not playing professional football that is for sure. And again why does the midfield not track back?
I think the concentration on getting a goal scorer, like the hysteria on here about getting the cretin Hollowhead as manager, has been entirely wrongly directed. Millwall need to build from the back and the defending has been poor since KJ left.
Forget buying any forwards, Forde (sadly), Webster, Williams and Craig are simply not good enough. Jimmy and Carlos (an original pre-injury Carlos that is) cannot come back soon enough.

Trying to look at this rationally, we are in Sanger of becoming a one trick pony, Fred. Why he was played on the right when he had a massive impact on the left against Shrewsbury I'll never know. Forde's claim to game has always been a shot stopper yet archer proved he can do that aswell, archer needs to find his feet so forde needs to move over. Gregs work rate is excellent but even in this division he's not a promotion striker. NH needs to bite the bullet and play a hungry team, and if that means youngsters then so be it. Yes we will get hammered in the early stages but this is about building for the future. NH clearly lacks management experience but maybe brining in warburton as director of football will help him as passion alone is not enough and we have already been found out
