Millwall's Harris excited by potential of new signing Mbulu

MILLWALL boss Neil Harris believes new signing Christian Mbulu has big potential after handing the defender his first ever professional contract.

Mbulu signed a one-year deal with the Lions yesterday on his 19th birthday.

The 6ft 4in centre-back impressed the watching Harris, Dave Livermore and Scott Fitzgerald when he came on as a second-half substitute for a Millwall XI side against Braintree last month and stood out again at Kingstonians a week later.

He played with Brentwood Town last season, helping them win promotion to the Ryman League Premier Division.

Mbulu will initially join the elite development squad.

“He’s a real off-the-cuff one,” Harris said at a Millwall fans forum at The Den last night. “He’s extremely raw and has signed his first professional contract with us. He’s going to need to adapt to training every day but he’s impressed everyone on the management team.”

At 6ft 4" he is not exactly towering over Harris in the pic! But that makes our third 6,4 CB along with Webster and Beevers... Read somewhere Mbulu is a very good dribbler of the football as well... Could make a decent commanding Defensive Midfielder if so. Need some height in the middle of the park. KJ always said whichever team wins the midfield battle tends to go on and win the match, especially in 4-4-2.

Had a few light ales with Bobby babic down the winner of loser the other day and was saying we was interested in signing Paul moody again. Apparently looking alright. Scouts see him score a couple of screamers over 5 a side pitches in new cross so thought they'd give him a shot

You can see where the club is going with an investment in youth something we have been lacking for a long time. Definitly one for the future, but, and I will not apologise for going on about it, we supporters must give them time, they will make mistakes but can we accept they will do their best lets build their confidence not distroy it. Rant over.

@lennie the lion: As usual, agree with you on this too. The fans are getting the youth called for, but I fear the same fans expect promotion right off. I'd rather we have some exciting seasons in the 3rd tier and these players develop enough to compete in the 2nd tier. Like early-2000s reboot.

Just finished having breakfast with Jason van blerk. Said his doing a bit of training with the lads and wouldn't mind another run at it. Gets on well with Harris aswell as they are in the same laser quaser team of a weekend

Terrific! Let's hope the lad does well. The difference between Neil and Holloway is already apparent. He is not signing over the top players and piling them on the wage bill. A promotion winning side cannot be built overnight but I get the senses that Neil is building the foundations for one. Keep it going.

Just had a game of cards and a nice cigar with Ronnie bull. Was saying that Harris is in a scrap with Grimsby reserves to sign Uwe Fuchs.
