As it happened: AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Millwall

RELIVE the team news and match action as Millwall drew 1-1  with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon.

After a 2-2 draw at Bromley on Tuesday night, Neil Harris' men faced a sterner test when they stepped up their pre-season preparations against the Dons.

Harris again looked to give as many players as possible game time ahead of the new campaign on August 8, with Sid Nelson heading home in the 94th minute to rescue a draw for his side.

Orbrien off injured squad too small no quality cover unproven youngsters no striker in another season of crap ahead all loyal fans taken for mugs again no investment I think JB should of sold us when he had an offer 2 years in Div 1 then another relegation at this rate.
You have to invest to get out of this division I don't want Harris to take the blame when we are in the bottom 8 after ten games you can bet we will be

Everyone knows how J.B and co. don't like investing in players, but even they must see that it could end up being more costly not to.

I know its only AFCW but it sounded like we bossed the game, midfield were all over it, lots of pressure attacking the goal, 20 odd corners but no threat, even if Greggs had played we wouldn't have scored, this was the kind of game with 20 minutes left pressure pressure pressure, corner after corner, bring on that big slow lump up front to head it in, plan B Hanson smith whoever.
plus with AOB going off and Greggs with a niggle we will probably need another smaller agile forward.
We'll end up with Jon Parkin at this rate lol

Not sure if you could get the facts but would love to know what the ratio was last season of goals from corners, we never seem to have a threat. Another thing is we never seem to have any free kick routines other than a shot into row Z.

If Gregs does not have a good season goal scoring wise then we look in trouble. I dont know how hard we are trying to bring one in but it is not looking good with only a couple of weeks left until kick off. After getting rid of 18 players surely we can afford to bring in a couple of players, you look at teams with the same budget and even lower gates than us who are doing deals. The question needs to be asked. Why arent we.

@lowdown: please read carefully, everything is there! Bolton want a striker, the club can't afford it, so they are going on a crowd sourcing website to raise the funds, if they don't get the amount needed they will donate the money to charity, we could of done the same thing (Wellman charity for Harris) if target wasn't reached! Simple if people read properly. It's been happening all over the place, in fact for everyone out there who did we play today? That's right AFC Wimbledon!!! The pheonix from the ashes of mk dons!!! Have a think people. COYL

Well I have posted before JB will not part with any money he is here to fight Lewisham council for the regeneration around the ground. This will help with clawing money back his American company have loaned Millwall. We have gone backwards and downwards no investment in the team to speak about and that leads to relegation just what we got. We all go to games because Millwall is in your blood but we have the worse squad if players for a long time and being patient as NH states with the kids but patience does not guarantee survival in league one. 2 draws in pre season is not great bring on Dartford in a couple of seasons Kenny Jackett got rid of TC as he was not good enough now we have himback as captain after all what KJ did on a shoestring and went as far as he could but with no investment from JB it was time for KJ to move on. Please JB put up the funds we need in the team to strengthen this current squad or ship out.

No investment in the team? Are you serious? Look at the turnover of players in the last two years, JB has thrown the kitchen sink at it, Bailey, McDonald, Chaplow, Morison, Hoyte, Wilkinson, Fuller, Derry, Campell,Jackson, Martinez and Maihoffer (twice) are just some names off the top of my head, all on £££s, how about the coaches as well, Bulpin, Gibbs, Bircham, that fat idiot 'fitness' coach, not to mention paying off Lomas and Holloway, all these have cost us a fortune. JB has been badly advised if anything, Although yeah Lomas was a bad decision how many were happy when Holloway took over? I was, I thought we had cracked it! Big name manager and all that, JB has kept us afloat since he's been here and for people to dig him out is just wrong in my opinion.

Fingers should be pointed at the people behind the scenes, like so called recruitment specialists I.E Mills and Harford who have so far came up with absolutely FA, or even Ambler who must have a big say in goings on, or the other board members, all these must surely carry the can rather than the bloke who writes off our debts year on year, signing cheque after cheque to keep the club going. Yes he's made mistakes but honest ones, if he was to say f*** it I'm off our club would be history within months. At least give him some credit for that.

Still wall yes I am serious the names you mention were either free transfers or loan players. I agree wages needed to be paid but everyone gets paid for doing a job. As for JB I agree he carries the can and supports the club financially if you check the balance sheet of Millwall these are treated as loans from his American company and will need to be paid back at some point. As I said he has not bought any players other than Morison 150k and made a nice profit when sold to Norwich Gregory another £150k both non league players. Upson and Williams were also small money. You cannot blame Mills he has only just been brought in I agree Ambler should also take some of the blame. We have failed to invest on players we have been crying out for a forward for 3 seasons a goal scorer. However we have failed even though we have struggled in championship and then finally go down to league one. In my opinion this squad is the weakest we have had the kids are not the answer maybe one or two in the team with experienced players yes that's fine not five or six as we will continue to struggle. JB is hear to hopefully win the legal battle with Lewisham council to get the area around the ground regenerated. This as nothing to do with investing in players to try to get back in the championship which with the current squad a long way off.

Fair comments mate, yes them players were frees and loans but they still commanded big wages, which JB still lashed out on, he backed the wrong horses in lomas and holloway simple as that. As for his future intentions it comes down whether you trust him or not, you don't that's fair enough, I do. Who's right or wrong only time will tell. I put a like on your comment by the way, fair points well made.

I've said along time now I love my club millwall but we are being taken for mugs! Jb needs to get out quick! If this clown along with Andy ambler cared about our club they would be putting the funds in for players and showing some kind of enthusiasm!! We are in deep s***! The only reason Harris was appointed was to save money and I thought he had a bit more sense about him being a millwall legend but to take over a sinking boat he must be very brave! A great player doesn't make a great manager. I hope I'm wrong but we will be fighting relegation this season. We're f*****! A shame but I'm sorry to say that we are going to struggle for years. For people saying we are a championship club, well you need ur head testing! Is that why were in league 1? Is there ppl really that thick on here?!

Williams & Upson as a pairing. NO! We are making the same mistakes as last season. This pairing ain't gonna do it for us. They are Holloway's players and were chiefly responsible for our relegation. Why the hell are we persisting with these two. Get rid now Bomber and play Powell & Thompson.

We can't just rely on the kids. i thought we looked a better team all round, when all the kids came on today including Powell (who looks a class act) and Thompson. However, williams and upson are still good players, but I agree I don't think they work well as a pair. If we had a striker who could play up front on his own, then I think upson and williams could play together with an attacking midfielder (Powell, Fred) infront of them. But in a flat 4-4-2 or even a diamond, neither are good enough in defence or going forward. On another note, kris twardek looks VERY decent.
