Millwall's Forde back training as Harris prepares for Bromley

DAVID Forde is back training with Millwall as they prepare for their first pre-season friendly against Bromley tomorrow evening.

However, the Ireland international is unlikely to be involved as he is some way behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness.

His future with the club has been in some doubt and he held talks with Fulham earlier in the summer.

But he joined the rest of the players and management as they returned to the training ground on Calmont Road this morning after a week in Portugal fine-tuning pre-season preparations.

The Lions played Fulham last Tuesday evening in a 60-minute game with both Neil Harris and Fulham boss Kit Symons naming a different side for each half.

Harris set his team up in the 4-4-2 formation that he is expected to use for the majority of the season as the sides drew 0-0.

And the Millwall boss outlined what he expects to see from his players at Bromley.

“I will be looking at the basics tomorrow evening,” he said. “We’ve done a lot of work on how we want to play with and without the ball.

“I will be looking for a high work rate, desire and a positive attitude from the players.

“We will be working more on the tactical side of things over the next few weeks.”

He also confirmed that he has yet to decide who will captain the Lions next season.

The game at Hayes Lane kicks off at 7.45pm.

Really hope Forde stays with us for the new season. By all means, give Archer the chance to take the No.1 shirt off him but Forde staying with us will only be a good thing!

@TheBermondseyBomber: Henrik played schoolboy football for Fulham F.C. and Reading F.C.. He was released by Reading in the summer of 2009 and joined Aldershot Town's academy. He has also played for the club's reserves.

After impressive appearances for Aldershot's youth and reserve teams, Henrik was given a trial by Chelsea's academy in February 2011, playing against the academy sides of Portsmouth,[1] Birmingham and MK Dons.[2]

Breimyr was runner-up in the 2011 League Two Apprentice of the Year, and signed a professional contract with Aldershot in April 2011 that ties the Norwegian to the club until 2013.

In February 2012 Breimyr joined the Norwegian side Viking on a one-year-long loan deal.[3] He made his debut in Tippeligaen against Haugesund on 28 April 2012, when he replaced Christian Landu Landu as a substitute in the 55th minute.[4] Breimyr spent most of the first half of the season playing at Viking's reserve team in the Third Division, and the loan-deal was terminated on 3 August 2012 by mutual consent.[5] Instead Breimyr was loaned out to First Division side Bryne on 22 August 2012.[6]

Fordey returns with his tail between his legs,it turns out he's not quite as in demand as he thought!Still he has the option of seeing out his long and lucrative contract at Millwall if there is nothing better about.I think his closeness to Harris could be also effect dressing room dynamics . I Personally think it would be best if he left and would wish him well for the future.

Glad he is staying,we need two keepers and we are not going to go and buy one as good as Forde, if Archer is given enough chance to prove his worth then he will be given the shirt if Forde is not playing well. Its up top we need to look at. Morison back please.

@LETEMCOME: I accept there are other keepers that make mistakes, this is our keeper and Ireland's no1, oh sorry he has lost the Ireland no1 status coz of his shoddy form and his inconsistency, coupled with the fact he wants out to play at a higher level, but no one wants him because as stated above he's staying for wages only his heart is not at wall is that good enough reason for me to think he should move on.

@mewall62: Until you meet the bloke how do you know when he plays his heart is not in it. And who stated that he is staying for wages, not him or Bomber or anyone who really knows what is going on behind the scenes. Maybe he should play for free a. Imagine,a player who wants to play at a higher level, how dare he. There is no such thing as loyalty in football any more, apart from us supporters. Get used to it.

          @LETEMCOME:
I have never questioned Forde's commitment when playing. nor his work ethic, nor claimed he wasn't entitled to try and get more money or play at a higher level than the first Division. All I note is that every single club in the Championship seems to share my opinion of him as a goalkeeper - ie he isn't worth a place at that level and/or his present salary. Personally I'd go slightly further and say his distribution, positioning, long-rang shot handing, decision making and behaviour at corners and crosses are all dire. And just for luck I'm not overly impressed by his ranting at all and sundry when he makes a rik all by himself. But otherwise it's not a matter of personality - just common or garden incompetence.

@The Humble One: Incompetent to keep 15 clean sheets behind a defence that had no idea on positioning, marking and being instructed by a manager who had lost the plot. I get you do not rate him but if Bomber can organise our defence and if Fordey plays lets have this chat at the end of the season and see if the guy can keep goal. Time will tell. Funny how people forget the times he played a blinder and kept us in games. You dont get to play pro football and play for your country if your that bad. Ask any pro.

Forde is someway behind in his fitness levels - therefore Dan Archer is our No 1 and Fordeee reaps championship wages for 2 years - yep good ole Wall got it wrong again - unreal how everything has been mucked up. Surely players should have a high level of fitness at all times or have I got it wrong again.........one of the earlier threads on here said I think that Wall were listening to offers for Forde and seemingly ready to let him go - obviously as stated before nobody is going to pay his Wall wages -loan him out and get half paid for. Watched Tommy Steele on the One Show what a performer - brill and can he tell a story - every tme he talks he has a way of making listeners spell bound - does anybody know has he ever mentioned Millwall being from Bermondsey. True performer in every sense of the word. Thanks
PS many years ago a surprise present from the missus watched his show in Bristol went backstage after to meet him got autographs and pictures - absolutely brill down to earth and honest - magic.

League one strikers can, and do, hit the ball as fast and as hard as anyone.
If Forde isn't fit then let Archer play. Once Forde has dropped 10 pounds then maybe he can make the subs bench. Until then, he'll find getting down to stop shots as difficult as he did last season in the championship.

At his age I don't blame him for aiming higher standard of football if he can match or get bigger wages than us paying him, What concerns me more is if he does become second choice below Archer as previously said he's on a good crack here with championship wages over the next few seasons which would be wasting the clubs money, I personally based on that would like to get rid.

I don't think all the blame can be put down to forde to be honest! With some of the s*** he's had in front of him is it any wonder we leaked so many goals! But still a goalkeeper of his supposedly level should not be beaten as many times as he does from long range shots! I've said this from day one, if teams review a video of us before playing us then they should know that if any if there players have a sight on goal 20 yds out + then have a punt because the likelihood is that it will somehow trickle into our net! On the other hand fordey has made some blinding point blank saves whether it's a case of being in the right spot at the right time or not he has obviously got something as to be Ireland's no1 for a while back. To be honest tho realistically you could of had 2 goalkeepers in our team and I'm sure it wouldn't of made much difference with the sack of s*** they have in front of them! How many times did opposing teams score from an indirect free kick or corner? Loads! And fair enough a keeper has to come for some balls but other times he has to rely on his defenders or midfielders to head clear and we've got defenders who can't head a ball! Schoolboy stuff really! We need a back 4 to be heard and seen and intimidate and I was always told as a kid playing when the first ball comes over let your marker know your in for the game by winning the first challenge and getting your man too because more than likely the opposing player won't be that keen the next time! We need 4 rocks at the back especially in this division but once again I can see us being bullied as usual! Hope I'm wrong!

I think if he is staying, then I would prefer he was the experience backup for a younger keeper. Whether we can justify that luxury on his contract is another matter.
What I can't understand is the slagging off of players that clearly have put in a good shift in for the club.
Yes there have been mistakes, the same that most wall goalkeeper's have made before and will make in the future. Just think they become more highlighted in a struggling team.

If he stays he will be on trial again by Harris I recon first big boo boo and he'll be dropped. One of the worst kickers I have seen. Distribution poor, long shot stopping poor. Positioning poor. Reflex reaction excellent. Not bothered, he can go. If he's staying the least he can do is return fit.

Has lost his touch over the last few seasons but that save against Cardiff at home last season will always be in my memory! What a save that was! Decent keeper on his day but time to go I think need someone who is there to impress not someone who is on high wages and cares more about his international reputation
