Promising Millwall duo pen new long-term deals

AIDEN O’Brien and Sid Nelson have followed John Marquis in signing new contracts with the club.

O’Brien, 21, has penned a two-year deal with the option of a 12-month extension while 19-year-old Nelson has signed a three-year deal.

Both players are academy products and made significant contributions following the appointment of Neil Harris as manager last season.

O’Brien started all 10 of Harris’s games in charge, scoring his first two goals for the club.

Nelson started nine of those games and was part of a defence that kept three clean sheets as the Lions fought unsuccessfully to retain their Championship status.

Chief executive Andy Ambler told the club’s official website: “Neil believes that the club's current crop of youngsters can play a big part in both the short and long-term future for Millwall, so retaining the services of these two talented players is an important step.”

@I fear no foe: I am glad to see these two sign,as i think they have both made big improvement since getting their chance in the first team, and i think their is a lot more improvement to come. Not sure if fred has signed,i hope he does ,if he does i hope he does one thing and that is to stop the leg over's and just go for the by-line and cross the ball. But all in all fred is an exciting prospect that i want to see at millwall to see how he progresses .
Like you i am all for the youngster's,it is going to be interesting to see what experienced player's NH bring's to support and guide the youngsters.

Looks like a lot of people at Millwall have had a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror or have had a kick up the a***. Either way, it's refreshing to see and hear that Millwall is now being run along the lines of a professional club after years of amateur night. Long may it continue.

Great news these two young lions wanna play for us and have committed to the cause . And wanna play for Harris their not all about the money that will come in time. Obrien and nelson have showed on the pitch in my humble opinion what it means to where the shirt and I for one are proud the type of players Fitzgerald is bringing through our academy happy Monday miiiiiillllllll

I am sure that Fred is actually under contract already Bomber. Great news I think we all want to see young lads in the team with a mix of experience and if those youngsters are Millwall Academy so much the better. Can we please though give them, and the whole team a chance a little bit of slack, and the people that seem only to be happy when someone makes a mistake so they can have a 'pop' please realise that we are called 'supporters' because we support the team not because it gives us the right to undermine a player who doing his best and if he isn't Bomber and management would insure he would not be playing for us in the first place.

@lennie the lion: think you're spot on mate he is under contract but only for another 12 months - the club have offered him fresh terms though! We as supporters need to get behind this team next year and stick with them like you say! Too many supporters aren't very supportive!!

Really happy that these 2 young lions have signed longer deals but as said above I am now seriously concerned why Fred hasn't yet.
He only has one year left and his form at Wycombe would of put him on lots of clubs radars which is why I was banging on about getting him signed up on a longer deal before he went out on loan.
I have to hope that the news of him signing a longer deal is coming soon.
Fred is a special talent in my opinion. Everything possible has to be done to keep him.

Right said Fred "have a cuppa tea then" - he is having a cuppa of tea.
    AOB any other business.
    Horatio NELSON.
Jimmi will go back to France.
    Top Cat will sign.
    PP will get fit soon.
And Bomber is known as Chats Harris.

Someone mentioned a goalkeeper as a possible signing. I'd have a look at Ruddy, the understudy to Rudd at Norwich. Offered a first team place he might drop a couple of divisions. He's been number two there for years and is a fine keeper.
Anyone know any news about possible targets in any position?
