Former Arsenal and Gillingham right back pens Millwall deal

MILLWALL have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of 19-year-old right back Mahlon Romeo from Gillingham on a one-year deal.

Romeo has played in a handful of U21 games for the Lions in recent weeks and is expected to begin his career at The Den in the development squad.

Born in Westminster, Romeo had spells at Arsenal and Wycombe during his academy days before signing a scholarship with the Gills, where he made one senior appearance.

Speaking to the club's official side, he said: "I already know Alfie Pavey from my time at Gillingham.

"Alfie was at Maidstone then and we used to play them quite a bit in friendlies and so on. Everyone has been really friendly here already and I'm delighted to sign for Millwall."

I don't think this says anything about Carlos.

He will be separately evaluated and the proof will be on the training ground and the pitch.

We all know the defence needs investment.

Who better to learn from than Carlos Edwards. Hope he comes good, but he is still young like Siafa and might be too lightweight for League 1 just yet. Hope we get rid of Hoyte, alongside The Hof, Shittu (I hate to say it) and Martinez. If Harris has any sense he'll drop Cummings and send Harding back. Looking forward to the '15/'16 season with a young and hungry Millwall side for a change, COYL.

We now have a Paris and a Romeo ,we are getting a little bit romantic.
Could it be this is part of looking to the future,as we have just given a contract extention to Keaton Wood a 19 year old, also Ben Thompson has signed an extention ,although Ben is on the threshold of the first team but they are all young.

@jim1222: Romeo's just an average silly-name nowadays. I'm more concerned about the 'h' in Mahlon - was he named by a family of goats?

Anyway, good luck son and hopefully you'll be a good signing for us.

@jim1222: Jim, they are all young but reading about their signings they ALL seem really keen. It made me laugh when Ben Thompson was told by Powell to 'calm down' because he was getting so excited about coming on at Wolves. Shame he never made is debut but he'll get his chance.

@scottwall: the bookies very rarely get it wrong...... But I'm struggling to see why we're favourites???

Going to wait for the mass clear out and replacements before making any predictions on where we will finish.

    Possible Summer signings
Emmanuel Thomas released by Bristol City he got 14 goals in league 1 ?
Birmingham City released Colin Doyle goalkeeper big frame commands the box well but not the best shot stopper I've ever seen but a good goalkeeper. Both big lads well over 6feet ?

@scottwall: If a offer that's was honest and decent enough I believe his head would turn, with him quoting want to play at the highest level BS. Even if he don't go 2 good keepers at the club will not be that bad thing,
He must be decent to get a few goals strange for him be released as his had a few appearances this season... Just something we don't have...

@Bush: Good call on ET - He would be a good signing - still think his best is yet to come - would add stature and power to our midfield.

@LETEMCOME: I thought he was an attacking midfielder - I'm sure he played in midfield for Ipswich against us. Anyhow, still been impressed with what I've seen and at 24, having scored 14 goals last season, could be a good addition.

@Adsy77777: I do believe he can do a bit of both definitely forward thinking first, his a big unit,
we should dip into the lower leagues why we have the opportunity, if we get promoted say first time of asking you can't buy cheap or lower then top of league 1 and hope players Settle in the championship it's hard to do that. need to bed players in this season,
        League 2 watch -
max power midfielder Tranmere decent player
Ivan toney -forward Northampton pace / power (sharn batt)
Jack redshaw morecombe winger / forward
Francomb from Wimbledon leggy winger like Chris Hackett

Players that need that Chance to make it a step higher.

Welcome to the club young un, as an aside, has anyone else had some consultancy firm ringing them up trying to buy their shares in millwall holdings for someone interested in buying the club? This happened tonight and some bird was telling me I'm a registered shareholder and they would like to buy them, should have said yes as the club took them from me and loads of other fans when they did a restructure a few years ago.

I also think we will get in a decent young season long from the Prem.

One positive about relegation is that wage thieves are much less tempted to join.

@ BUSH: IVAN TONEY was a player wolves were buying for half a million on deadline day, but he failed the medical so JACKETT pulled out. I can't see us offering that kind of money for him or anyone else wheather we should or not, we won't .

      @bordersarebest0170:
As we all know Deadline day prices are inflated, with Harris looking to go down the pace and power route like jackett why not try and get his target.
Did the medical fail because wovles signed Afobe ?
Northampton finishing 12 in league 2
Id put 200 grand up test the waters
bit of tapping up and Northampton are stuck with a player that don't want to be there, if we do it early, the summer will feel a long one for them and the player we should be rubbing our hands together.

@harrythelion: should have been tied to a longer contract long ago 200k is a joke how on earth could we replace him for that sort of dosh.....Berylson said we dont need to sell our young players and i really hope on this one he sticks to his words because i think in a couple of years time he will be worth 10 times that ammount and its exactly players like him we need and not to be selling....
